Wow. 2 separate 3 game home stretches, did not see that coming. Also, why do we play southern? I thought Stricklin was the only one that did that. Anyway, I'm excited for the opener in the Superdome, might have to go to that one. Looks like a favorable schedule to me.

Are we moving to double byes next year?

That's a bad ass schedule, though.

Good thing Arkansas and UT are going to suck for awhile. Those road games aren't scary in the least.

Yep. Not bad for what will be labeled by the sports talking-heads as a "rebuilding year".

JoMo don't rebuild. He reloads!

Seriously, we're close to that.

Without a shot-clock, we can just hold on to the ball the whole game; no need for a defense.**

Really just at S and DT. Should be just as good everywhere else.

It does take a hit not doubt, but we are so deep this year, that it still should be an above average defense.

That's a bad ass schedule, though.

Every few years (maybe every 5?) the calendar shakes out so there's 14 total weekends (2 byes) between Labor Day weekend and thanksgiving weekend.

Man if there was ever a year that we had to play 4 out of 5 SEC on the road 2019 would be the one for it with Tennessee, Arkansas, and A&M rebuilding.

Agreed. I would expect A&M to definitely be the better of the 3, though, by a lot.

Look at this abomination of a home slate for Bammer:(:

9/7 N Mexico State
9/21 Southern Miss
9/28 Ole Miss
10/19 Tennessee
10/26 Arkansas
11/9 LSU
11/23 W Carolina

Outside of YawYaw, that's mind numbing bad.

And Sweat and Green. We lose our whole starting DL, both safeties and a corner, two OL, QB1, and TE. Sorry, we'll be ok, but in the SEC west we'll struggle at times losing that many. Depth will be considerably thinner.
I'm guessing we're a 7/8 win team (9 would be my max). But, in years past, losing that many meant a losing record.

Lose Sweat and Green, still have Rivers, Jones, Adams, Spencer, etc. Add Odom, Ani, Russell, etc. DE is our deepest position. I was just talking about the defense (which was the post I replied to). DT and S are the real only concerns. Defense should still be really good.

Damn. How long has it been since y'all haven't played a decent OOC team? I know Louisville wasn't great this year, but they were solid when y'all scheduled them.

We've played a lot of "big time" OOC programs that were better when we scheduled them than when the game was played... Some of them we "broke", I think...

Bammer's SOS has been pretty solid under MDL, and part of that was the opening weekend Neutral Site Games... (preseason rankings)

08 #9 Clemson (N)
09 #7 Va Tech (N)
10 #18 Penn State (H)

12 #8 Michigan (N)
13 UR Va Tech (N)
14 UR W. Virginia (N)
15 #20 Wisconsin (N)

They setting Bama/LSU for SEC W showdown to see who wins it. Saban needs to nut up and play a home&home about 4 games into the season like OU/OSU etc. do. He skeered tho.

I'd like our next year's schedule this year. Right now I'd take AU & TAM away for LSU & Bama (with a bye week before that game) at home.

ETA: Bear Bryant would.

No, this is new and its about time.

Florida, Bammer, Auburn, USCe, and others have been doing it for years.

Very odd placement of that game. Guess it's basically like another bye week after playing Bama and right before Ole Miss though so it's probably pretty smart.

That's a bad ass schedule, though.

Thinking exactly the same thing as I quickly scanned it. Very tough. Surprised we picked up UT in Knoxville. We go into next season with a lot less experienced players in many key positions. I even think ULL in the SuperDome will be considerably closer than it was this year. Not sure I see a 9 or 10 win season next year unless Keyteon or Mayden bust out with big time play. Probably will be happy with a 7-5 or 8-4 season at best.

@ Auburn and Bama are loses. LSU only has 2 seniors in their defensive 2 deep (1 starter), and 3 on O, so they'll be better. A&M is already playing better than under Sumlin, and they've been recruiting great, but they lose 6 starters on D so they'll probably only be slightly better. We play them on the road though so home field will be theirs. That's 8-4.

However, I don't know where the 5th loss would be. KState is less talented and going downhill, Tennessee and Arky will still be trash, Kentucky is Kentucky and we have them at home. We're more likely to go 9-3 than 7-5 in y opinion, though 8-4 seems extremely likely

I knew y'all had had a good OOC game each year for a while. That's why I'm surprised at Duke. Are good teams not wanting to play Bama to start the season? Or is Saban wanting to do something diffrent? I can definitely see why teams with playoff hopes wouldn't want to open with Bama.

The Duke thing is a Cutcliffe thing, IMO (He's a bama guy)... Bammer actually played AT Duke in 2010...

and you're right, it'll be near impossible for Bammer to schedule a big time OOC opponent that has title hopes.

19 - Duke
20 - USC
21 - Miami, FL
22 - @ Texas
23 - Texas
