I was wondering about the playing surface at Lambeau since it looks so good, and found an article about the re-do over the off season. It looks great ... it's sort of a hybrid bluegrass and synthetic turf called SIS Grass, and is the first for football (but apparently common for soccer fields). Must've cost a fortune, so there's probably no need to think about it for a home lawn.

Most of the big soccer clubs in Europe have gone to that type of field. They can't have full artificial grass by rule. That stuff preserves the natural grass playing characteristics but is more much more durable. You don't see the mud holes in front of goal and down the touch lines anymore.
