So the scene in the Longest Yard where Burt races the Citroen onto the drawbridge and traps the State Patrol. The bridge was right here in Brunswick GA. Burt befriend a couple of locals and would come back regularly to fish and drink.
He was an Icon.

I never considered Burt a great actor. He made it on good looks and swag. He was an actor who seemed to not give a shit which I kinda admire. Even one of my favorites, Smokey and the Bandit which I still watch is due to Gleason, not Burt.

I remember watching him as a guest on Johnny Carson and somehow the subject was on jobs he held growing up in FL and one was working on a fishing boat geared towards tourists. He said the part he hated the most was baiting hooks for rich yankees. LOL.
