I know a guy. Long before the Bear mascot came to be, my guy told me Rebels was going to die.

Now this, from the fallout of gaygate at Ole Miss.

Their committee that looked into that deal recommended promoting "Rebel Bear" and to "conduct a review" of Jim Crow era symbols on the Ole Miss campus, including "Rebels, Col Reb, and Dixie".

Also recommended is to promote the phrase "The University Of Mississippi" as much as "Ole Miss" is used today.

I've felt for many years that the best thing Ole Miss could ever do would be to completely re-brand itself. If TSUN were a corporation, that would have happened a long time ago. They need to drop red & blue, "Ole Miss", "Rebels", Dixie, everything. Go Green & Gold and call themselves The Flood, which was 2nd place to Rebels in their chosen mascot a long long time ago.
