I was looking at Renfroe's stats this year versus last year. It can be hard to compare because of an unequal number of at-bats.

So I took Hunter's numbers and extrapolated them over 600 plate appearances (150 games with 4 plate appearances per game). Notice that I said 600 plate appearances, not 600 at-bats. Based on 600 plate appearances his stats would be this:

31.3 doubles and 32.5 homers in 2017
36.7 doubles and 31.1 homers in 2018

175.3 strikeouts and 33.8 walks in 2017
152.2 strikeouts and 42.2 walks in 2018

63.8 runs and 72.6 RBI in 2017
69.7 runs and 97.2 RBI in 2018

0.231 average, 0.284 OBP, 0.467 slugging in 2017
0.253 average, 0.309 OBP, 0.500 slugging in 2018

0.751 OPS in 2017
0.809 OPS in 2018

I was watching something on him recently. They said that the Padres had closed his stance some last year. It caused him to absolutely murder lefties, but struggle mightily against righties. This season, they had opened his stance back up some more like it was in college. It gave him some vulnerabilities against lefties, but had really improve his hitting against righties. It was a good move, because he still hits lefties very well. But now he can adequately hit righties.
