If Mond is still inaccurate like last year & Fisher is still reluctant to run his QB, A&M could stink on offense this year. Christian Kirk ain't out there anymore
I'm actually surprised that Mond won the QB battle. When we played them last year, I thought Starkel was the better passer & more accurate

aTm -15.5 seems low..... I would think it would be closer 20.5.

He throws a decent deep ball & can run, but he lacks accuracy in the mid-range passing game, & Jimbo has never run designed QB runs. He doesn't believe in them.
I've always thought that Mond is a less physical Fitz. Physicality is a big part of Fitz' game

There are a bunch of games on Directv with the Sportspack. I'll flip around a lot and settle on the one that winds up being the best one. That one in the Big 10 is a good candidate.

Attendance is down a bit tonight. I think the stadium holds 108,000 ... must only be about 90K there.

There were also a ton of empty seats the night we played there last year.
I think they built it too big. They'll sell out vs Bama & maybe LSU, but that is about it.

When we don't sell out, we are still withing 5K or so of filling up the stadium. A&M either has 108 K there or 85K there in which there are 20K empty seats.
If A&M bad crowd was 98K, it wouldn't be an issue

A&M crowd is being pumped by SECN, but high shots show a lot of the stadium has empty seats. Too much hype for this team.

It is, and coaches have been fighting that tendency since the game originated. My high school coach in the early 80's threatened to tie a fishing line around our balls, run it up our back and over our heads and tie the other end to our face mask. Duck your head and.....well..... We still ducked our heads. .

I was just guessing based on the endzones. Haven't really seen the sideline upper decks yet. Pretty noisy environment though.
It's Thursday night. Not sure we'd do much better percentage wise on an opening night against such an opponent.

Actually about 16 million.
6.4 in Houston metro, 6.8 in DFW, 2 mil in Austin metro area, & another half mil between College Station & Waco.
That's not even including the 2.5 mil that live in the San Antonio metro that is 3.5 hours away.

San Antone is about 3.5 away. But yes, you could add another 2.5 mil if you include it.

It is crazy the amount of people they can draw from. However, Houston and Dallas are really melting pots of people from everywhere. Lots of SEC people and others that don't care about A&M at all.

My wife went there, and I have attended plenty of games. While 100K fans are loud, I have never thought the chants and songs and stuff were necessarily that intimidating. A&M's big problem is toughness on D, and it is a systemic problem in TX High School FB.

Getting out of those big cities with traffic is a bit hard to do for a 7:30 weeknight game. The only think comparable in our neck of the woods is Atlanta.

Atlanta is the only city in the south that compares, but Houston & Dallas are almost twice the size of Atlanta each

They have indeed. Not a bad team but probably lack depth. We'll see. A&M's about to score again ... but there was holding (obviously not Alabama playing ... offensive holding called).

Agree 100%. Total waste of time and money. I will be at State Sat. as usual, but games like this are a big reason for empty seats ( Yeah, I remember the Maine and South Al, but no excuse for either). Should at least play a good mid-major.

Yeah, I think I'm going to watch "Expedition Unknown" instead of the second half. I'll stay for the whole SFA game, but I wish we would stop playing these type games or at least play someone with a pulse now and then.

We have our Heisman Dark-horse suspended for the first game. I'm happy we didn't open this one up against anyone with a pulse.

Not sure I'll hang around for the entire SFA game. "Expedition Unknown" is a pretty interesting program, but have you noticed he never really solves anything?
I'm looking forward to "Ancient Aliens" tomorrow though ....

What cured me of crown of the helmet tackling was watching a friend of mine break his neck right infront of me by ducking his head and spearing our rb. That will teach you what shoulder pads are for.

South Alabama isnt FCS they are a good mid major in terms of CFB. They are FBS. Maine is FCS.
But I do agree this is pointless and nobody cares to watch it. Its a glorified scrimmage

It is definitely a glorified scrimmage but I don't think that's a bad thing. We need to get young guys playing time. If we're going to load up 8 months of suspensions into one game, we need a cupcake to start off and if not, it helps to have a week to get people healthy during the season.
It's definitely a downer for the fans, but between an FCS game and another off week, I'll take an FCS game. Between an FCS game and another game against a midmajor, I'd take the mid major game as a fan, but I think a buy game from a mid major is like 3 times the cost? Some of that is offset by increased fan interest, but i'm not sure how much.
ETA: Maybe a decent compromise would be to alternate years with an FCS team, trying to put an FCS team in the years with a harder schedule or maybe the years with a weaker home SEC slate to give another semi-interesting game.
