....as we likely expected. A couple of notables to me are that freshman Austin Williams is starting at the slot, Guidry at WR, and J.Jackson at the other WR. Sounds like a nice trio to start the season with. The other, I was a bit surprised that the placekicking is neck and neck with Christmann and Jordan Lawless. Probably the closest battle of any position on the team. I had thought Christmann was far and away the guy! Almost one week until we open the Moorhead Era!!

How much playing time is dolla bill expected to see? Coming from my alma mater I'm hoping he really does well.

RS. We'll see if he gets in any of the 4 available games. May get in a couple.

I've heard that Day and Shexneider are neck and neck for Punter as well.

Keith Mixon back to 100% yet? Really want that guy healthy & on the field this year

There's not a lot of question. Big ones in my opinion are 1) how good is Guidry?, and 2) how much of a droppoff is the 2nd string secondary? Other than that I feel really solid about everyone who will be relied upon

I hear he is going to be 1st string punt returner so he must be close to 100%.

I wish Whop was backing up Jackson, but it appears he is backing up Guidry.

Why?

b/c I hoped Whop and Guidry would be our 2 outside WR's.

I don't recall Austin Williams being highly sought after and now he's starting as a true freshman? Diamond in the rough or something?

He's a redshirt freshman. He was a very early commit and he hung on and enrolled early so there wasn't a lot of drama. He drew positive reviews all last year in practice. And he has earned the starting role with a solid spring and fall.

This will be a very exciting season if the WR core can come through.

Whop can play both outside positions. I bet we see Whop & Guidry together some esp as the year goes on.

Agree, and they may not. I can never remember who Whop and Dolla Bill are. Presumably their real names will be on their uniforms.

So we shouldn't have had Pig or Pork Chop or Boobie?

Once they are established players. It's frustrating for some of us. I could not give you Whop or Dolla Bill's name right now if asked.

I definitely can tell you Pig Prather (don't remember "Robert") and Floyd Womack. Whop and Dolla ? Just not ready yet. Hopefully I will VERY soon.

We all know Pig & Porchops last names. 4 of you can say whop & Dolla bill's last names. It wouldn't kill y'all to include some last names or their actual full names for a bit till everyone knows who these newbies are.

I agree. I'm looking at it like Jackson, Guidry, and Whop-Jason are our top 3 receivers and they will all rotate. I think there is a drop off in ability after those 3. Then I see Williams and either Dear/Mixon rotating at the slot. The one position that seems pretty even as far as 1 for 1 reps is TE where I see Green and Johnson rotating.

I agree with everything but I think it's Williams & Deddrick getting the snaps at Slot.

Was watching the BAMA vs UGA NC replay today and BAMA's kicker made me feel ill the way he missed a couple of those kicks, especially the last one in regulation. Not that I care about BAMA that much, but I could just see us having the NC in our hands only for our kicker to hook one like that at point blank range. I sure hope all our kickers are cold blooded and can block out pressure, because you know somewhere, we will have to win a game with a last second FG.

I was thinking he got the name at Terry High or at MSU. After the player in Friday Night Lights (the movie based on the book, not the TV series).

Wow...so we are going to go with the guys who actually caught passes? In Practice? Consistently? Shocked! Shocked I are! This is not a very MSU thing to do. Doesn't show any strain or relentless repetitiveness.

He?s a heady player. A real gym rat. Film room junkie. Superb route runner. Deceptively athletic. A real student of the game.

Did I miss any?
