and none of them are Jeffrey Simmons surprisingly.

Abram at 21
Sweat at 22
Jenkins at 25

With Simmons, Fitz, and Green- State likely has 6 players drafted in the top 3 rounds come April.

So if Simmons isn't projected 1st round, could we dare to dream about a senior year?

Don't do it. He's at worst top 40. I think he's a 1st Rd pick.

That is insane that Simmons isn't considered a 1st rounder. The only thing I can gather from that is because of the amount of QUALITY depth in this year's draft for defensive tackles. That's not a knock on Jeffrey....it's just a reality. You could switch him with any of those other 4-6 top DTs that are draft eligible this year and no one could really argue.

Leroy Jenkins

This year DL draft class is ridiculous. That, and his HS mistakes, are hurting Simmons projections. On the other hand the saying about the draft is, you only need one team to fall in love with you.

agreed. I think Simmons is our 1st player drafted. I think he has Jenkins too high. I think he ends up 2nd-3rd round

Had no clue Abram was that highly thought of. Knew he had been at DI and was a big JUCO pickup, but had no clue that he had the type potential that he'd be projected in first round before even getting back to DI.

Also thought Simmons was going to be more like a top 15 pick than a second round pick and certainly a higher pick than Sweat. I though a lot of Sweat's success was due to the attention Simmons required.

Simmons is the best DT in the SEC. He's going 1st round.

Seems to me that McShay is trying to insert some PC in the Simmons' situation due to not knowing anything about what Jeffrey is actually like.

Sorry to stereotype, but it's very ESPN of McShay to leave Simmons off the list.

I would love for Simmons to be there at pick #32 for the saints to pair with rankins. Yeah, I'm calling saints to win it

Simmons is a DT/NG in a year when there are a bunch of really good DT/NG types. Also edge rushers are considered much more valuable. If you are drafting for an NFL team, you can afford to wait to the 2nd or 3rd round and still get a really good DT without much drop off. It will hurt all of those guys some.

Bingo. I'm sure he's left out because of the incident from high school. There's no other explanation. I think it will cause him to fall from where he should be (top 10), but I would be surprised if it pushed in out of the first round. He's just too good and will dominate at the 3 technique this year.

Someone on Twitter posted the QB pressure percentage per snap and compared Oliver (Houston DT some are considering 1st pick) with Simmons. Oliver is more of a run stopper but Simmons QB pressure was more than double and that is playing in the Big Boy SEC and not wherever Houston plays.

Fact is Simmons can certainly play himself into a top ten pick or he could last to the beginning of the 2nd round. If we do as well as we can then Simmons probably goes higher as well as the rest of our guys.

Jeffrey will likely be a 1st rd pick but the competition on the DL in the upcoming draft is insane. So like it or not there's going to be a tiebreaker & for some teams (may only be a few) he will be low or not on their boards at all due to his HS incident.

Ed Oliver
Jeffrey simmons
Christian Wilkins
Dexter Lawrence
Rashaan Gary
Raekwon Davis
Nick Bosa
Clelin Ferrell
Dre'Mont Jones
Jerry Tillery

All of these guys are considered 1st Rd picks & not all are going 1st Rd. Someone has to drop. Another great year & Jeffrey should lock himself into the 1st Rd

Fletcher Cox was what a 6th Pick and I think that Simmons is even better. Not to take away from Fletcher though, he is a monster in his own right

I don’t keep up with the Pro Football Draft so much, but is Simmons projected as a higher pick than those cats at Clemson, AU & Bammer?

I'm a little surprised at how high Jenkins and Abrams are rated. I think they are great players but I didn't think they would be possible first round- third round good.

If Guidry has a good year I could see him going. I know Daryl Williams is rated pretty high as well- I'm not sure that he would leave early though. Fitz's stock will probably climb with a good year. He's 6'5" 225-230 and has a rocket launcher for an arm and can run like a deer. I think his skill set translates pretty well to the NFL as it is and if he does indeed improve his accuracy and we have a really good season I think his ceiling would be very high as far as the draft goes.

I know some people have mentioned Aeris as a draft pick but to me he doesn't really flash with his game. He's consistent and there's a lot to be said for that and he does a lot well but to me he seems like a guy that is going to have to make it on special teams. Someone will definitely give him a shot if he isn't drafted.

Aeris is a guy that does everything well but I'm not sure what his skill would be at the NFL level. But if he can avoid runs for loss in the NFL like he can in college, then maybe that combined with good blocking will overcome any lack of top end speed.

IMO, he is. He's been better than Fletcher Cox at the same age and has a quicker first step. Fletcher imo is one of the top 10 best defensive players on the planet. I think Simmons can be one day as well.

Simmons was a 1st rounder...after his FRESHMAN yr....at MSU! This 2nd talk is pure horse hockey!!

He is a freaking monster on the inside and no way a 300 lb guy should move like he does. Hail State!!

He reminds me a lot of Frank Gore type of guy. Gore almost never lost yardage, but he didn't have 40+ yard tds every week either. Just got his 85-125 yards a week and took his ball home.
