Word going round that our QB commit Garrett Shrader ran a 4.48 today at camp.

He's currently 6'5" 190.

That's incredible for a guy that size. If the QB thing doesn't work out, we may have 5* caliber WR on our hands.

Put 25-30 pounds of muscle on that frame and he will be a monster. Lot for our coaches to work with in Shrader.

QB will work out. He has the skill set to be the best qb to ever play here. That's not an exaggeration either

Having a good college QB is a key for success in college FB. We have been getting a good commit each year and thats what it takes. Even if only 1 out of every 3 turns out to be really good, thats a successful program.

Isn't 6'5" 190 kind of skinny?

Ty Simpson, class of '22, may be the #1 Dual QB in his class. From Tennessee, his dad is current UT Martin HC and former MSU player Jason SImpson.

* Ty will be class of '22, not '20 as posted. .. mea culpa!

Guidry is 6'4" 190, De'Runnya Wilson was 6'5" 220. But Shrader is just a HS soon to be Sr; he'll be able to put on at least 20 lbs by the time he sees our field

He is in high school. If he was 6'5" 240 right now I would actually be concerned about him being too big at this point. I feel like it's easier to add muscle if you are thin than it is to burn fat.

Plus he’s coming off of surgery so he hasn’t been able to do any weight lifting.

Anyone know what Wilson is up to these days? Man, I still hate he got that bad advise and didn't stay for his Sr year.

Still looking for work in the NFL. Heard that recent talks with the Patriots fell through. Was on the roster of the Albany Empire arena football club but was put on "Recallable Reassignment" (cut) back in March.
He would have been fun to watch in the NFL.

The starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys on Sundays says shut the Hell up and stick to preaching on Sundays.

I hope Shrader's HS coaches don't push him too fast, but I think the way Garrett has been pacing himself after the surgery he know not to rush.

What kept Wilson from being a situational NFL player? I thought he would have been good as a slot / possession type guy. Wasn't he also a good blocker? I always thought he was good at going up and getting the ball and being able to take punishment in the middle and stuff. How good were his hands overall?

Im sure blocking is a nice 3rd or 4th attribute for a WR and no doubt coaches and fans pay it a lot of lip serivce, but if you can't get open, nothing else matters.

I have always heard it is an IQ issue.

He's gonna have his work cut out beating out Jalen Mayden. Mayden is as good an athlete as I have ever seen as an MSU recruit. He's like a deluxe supreme Dak Prescott, but already has Dak's ability and hasn't even played a college game. Dude is a pinpoint passer and runs as good as Fitz if he needs to.

Yeah it is. I was 6'4"/175 as freshman in highschool and got pounded by shorter stockier linebackers/linemen. When I was a senior, ended up a bit over 6'4"/210 and could dish out what those former players gave me as a freshman. So, yeah, he's a bit on the skinnier side, but after a redshirt year in the weight room and training table, I expect him to at least get up to the weight I was as a senior. I think he'll end up around 220/230 by the time he's a senior at MSU.

I heard it was a work ethic issue. He definitely had really bad combines.
