This weekend the misses has given me a hall pass so I'm heading to the coast here shortly and I'll try to find some windows to get out on the boat. I brought my rain gear.

Burgers & woodford tonight.

Beast, it's looking like glass for the morning. I loaded up the kayak and plan to hit the water early for a quick trip.

Pics coming later but we caught a nice mess of fish. Great day on the water. It’s a burger night at the sports bar in town and we’ll be back at it tomorrow

Went wade fishing for the first time in Galveston bay side last night. It was slow, but we caught about 12 (reds and gafftops) Did not keep anything. My friend I was with has gotten into Kayaks. Any suggestions for a novice Kayak guy?

Caught some small mangroves this morning but left my phone on the porch. Had a bird take a fish and my lure. Had to cut the line or reel the fish in. Only had one real good meal. Disappointed in the hogfish I had which is the fish I was looking most forward to having.

Love those flounders! We caught some last week down on the Coast. We are still eating leftovers from the 4th.

Nice haul Beast. I caught a few trout early morning. Water was oddly clean around GPT - green and 6+ feet of visibility.

Made fish tacos last night.

What kind of budget and what type of fishing primarily?

I’m pretty confident we limit on reds pretty easily if we’re in the marsh at 6 instead of 8:30. We had about an hour of tide and caught a few trout and reds. We spent the next 4 hours really grinding it out on no tide. It turned back out at 2 and we caught the flounder and a cpl trout and we see storms brewing right over Waveland-PC and that’s where we had to come in. Got sporty on the way in. Would have loved to have another hour on that falling tide. I fished all day and only had tide for like an hour and a half.

Probably mostly reds and trout fishing inshore. $1500 budget.

Jackson Cuda. It’s what I have and it’s my first. Great first kayak for that budget.

Jackson and Native are 2 brands I’d definitely look at. $1500-$2k is also prime used Hobie Outback territory. If you’re interested in the pedal yaks that would be a good place to start.

Just got some right off the boat shrimp. About to light a burner and start a boil.

Jackson Cuda.

I have a Cuda as well. I love it, especially the storage pod in the middle. My tackle stays loaded in mine ready to go all the time.

A 12' kayak is also probably the best size for what you want to do. Tracks better than a 10' and isn't as hard to move around as a 14'.

The storage is awesome. I put small things, wallet, phone, etc in it and slide my tackle under my seat. Awesome kayak
