Who plays 2B next year with Stovall gone? Im happy for him but I was honestly surprised. Thought he would stay.

Rowdey, Westburg, and Foscue seem like legit options to me, though I know nothing other that what I saw on the field. If Hatcher can improve at the plate I could see him and Allen being at the corners to free up Foscue if we like him more than the other 2 at 2nd. I have no idea what we have coming in in the new class, we may have a stud

another year of age could've possibly hurt his draft stock. I'm guess Rowdey Jordan will be our 2 bagger next year. He was a MIF in highschool.

Agreed Rowdy makes the most sense at 2B.

Then who plays LF? Anderson?

Anderson is probably going to transfer out. Move Allen to LF, and Hatcher to 1B

That's what Todd and the other baseball guys say. Though it's a easy position to play so I'm sure Hatcher/a freshman could handle it if Anderson is a bust. We have a lot of promising guys, just need 1 to be able to defend 2B and hit for average, and 1 other guy that can swing to play OF. Seems like we have enough guys with potential to fill those

Anderson is gone. Allen or Halter could play LF.

So we're gonna have a brand new face again at 1B, 2B or LF bascially

Tanner Allen isn’t a first baseman. We played two guys way out of position to get them in the lineup. We will have better defensive players at both first base and left field next year.

Halter should play 2B and leave Foscue at 3B

If Ginn were to come, do we play him at SS or do we let him pitch full time

Westberg at 1B? Allen?

Weekend starter & DH would be the route I'd go.

He was drafted in the 21st round. Technically as far as the slots go that's already as low as you can go and so there isn't really any way he could have hurt his stock unless he tanked it and went undrafted which would have been highly unlikely.

I'm starting to think it's going to maybe be:

1B- Westburg or Tanner Allen
2B- Halter
3B- Ginn if he comes to MSU
SS- LA

I'd prefer Westburg over Allen because I like a big target at first base. I could see Josh Hatcher there too.

I'd go 3B and closer ala Pete Young w/ Ginn.

I see Halter as a Left Fielder/DH.

If Alexander does indeed hold on to SS, the DH spot is gonna be stacked. There will be some good hitters without enough spots to play them

Can anyone play SS other than Alexander? Maybe Foscue?

Also, I only count 10 capable hitters including Halter and Ginn.

Catcher has to play
Assuming Alexander is SS
Allen
Foscue
Halter
Westburg
Mac
Jake
Rowdey
Hatcher
Ginn (assuming he's here for this)

If Foscue can play SS and assuming Ginn is here:

1B. Westburg
2B. Jordan
3B. Ginn
SS. Foscue/Alexander
LF. Halter
CF. Mangum
RF. MacNamee
C. Jones
DH. Allen

What about that?

I think Hatcher rebounds in a big way.

Just don’t think foscue or Westburg is an sec ss defensively. I get it way better offensively than LA but got to pith and defend in this league.

So what you are saying is that LA is the only SS on the entire roster including incoming players.

I've been wondering this. If this is the case, pretty big hole in our last few classes

Foambat is not anywhere close to good enough defensively to only hit .220. Every single option should be tried and surely we have someone on our roster that can make the routine plays, which is what foambat does, and swing the bat wayyyyyy better.

It won't hurt to try Foscue at SS.

Westburg DH'd most of the year...I'm thinking he played 3rd a little but don't remember him at 1st at all. Only recall Hatcher and Allen there. If Westburg didn't play 1st this year, what makes those that see him at 1st next year put him there? Not trying to be an asshole - honestly just curious and like to hear others opinions.

2b and LF is what I've gathered... from message boards so take it for what it's worth.

Westburg can and will be an Sec shortstop. He’s prob the best defensive infielder we have.

Not sure what you're basing this on. Foscue looked better at 3b than Westburg to be. Fielding % is a poor metric to determine how good someone is in the field, but westburg had the worst fielding % of any of our infielders this past season. I realize players get better, but Westburg just didn't look like a SS at 3b.

Now I concede I haven't watched any practice.

If this was the case then we had a horrible coaching staff. It isn't like Westburg couldn't have played 3rd with Foscue DHing.
