Yep, Garner with a 3 run Jack

How good is Wes Stokes supposed to be? He was only 78-82 on the gun.

He wont survive the cuts.

Heck is a middle infielder from Washington state. He's a JUCO infielder that is more known for his defense than anything.

Thanks. Good to see some power in this first scrimmage. That is what I wanted to see after losing Renfroe

You're going to be really disappointed when Lingo is used like Chad Girodo this year.... hint, hint.

I'd prefer it. Innings 3-8 more important than 1-6

Take scrimmage stats with a grain of salt. Brayden Jones led the team in home runs one year.

That's how Stratton started out his junior year. It might be that Lindgren is more comfortable coming out of the bullpen. We'll match him up with Trevor Fitts or some other right handed pitcher and then bring him in.

We shall see with Lingo. I think that if they use the same philosophy with the pitchers as they did last year it would be better for him to come in and eat up innings 3-8.

When Stokes came in last year I thought he was in the low 90's?!

Hitters should fare better right now because I don't think all of the pitchers are throwing all pitches.

I was peeking at the scouts' guns behind home plate and he was struggling to hit 80. He hit 82 once

I'd like a "traditional 8th inning guy" like a Shelly to start games. Bring in a "starter" in the mid 2nd if trouble is brewing or 3rd. We will determine the starter based on the lineup so R-L matchups can be exploited. Let the "starter" do his thing and bull pen it out to finish up. Holder comes in to shut down rallies when they occur NO MATTER THE INNING.

Make a plan that gives us the statistical favor and follow that plan.

Really first few scrimmages they are getting the dust off. Let's see in a couple of weeks.

Oh, I understand that. But I remember a few years ago when we didn't have anybody that could hit one out in BP....so just knowing we have multiple guys that can hit it out makes me feel good.

No I don't but they will at least 4 times a week.

Cohen was very high on Britton during media day, saying he's bulked up and bragged on his defense. Today he apparently made several nice defensive plays as well. I've thought all along if this kid sticks it out, doesn't sulk and leave like so many before him have, he's got a chance to contribute and may even start. He simply was not ready as a FR and was thrust into a bad spot. I want the best guy out there like everyone but I'm pulling for him.

This^

I'm a Britton fan, and hope he has done what it takes to earn a starting spot.

Regardless, this competition for starting spots is going to make us incredibly good, and incredibly deep.
