They had us 8th in the nation and 4th in the SEC. Scary when half the top OL units in the nation are in the same conference. You don't win without the beef up front on both sides.

Most all of our OL were our 6,7th options down the line during recruiting. They would have never made it to campus had others ahead of them had committed. Heck, we had a walk-on from Benton Academy --- nothing against him, I've known him since he was in middle school --- who he coached up to AA status his final year in college. And Dillon Day, who we took at the last moment because everyone else fell through and he was able to gain 30lbs before graduating.
Horrible OL recruiter......GREAT OL coach.

If you don't recruit well you will never reach your ceiling. And the other bad thing is the players you miss on hurt you when they are playing on the other team. It's relative.

And while our starters are good we have some depth issues. Name our back-up center.

Hevesy's group played really poorly in the 2014 and 2015 Egg Bowls as well and were a big reason why we lost.

It always seemed to me that Hevesy and the rest of the staff were good at finding kids with enough physical talent but not a lot of football talent. They came from schools where there wasn't a lot of competition and not great coaching. They didn't get a lot of stars because the media folks don't have time to dig deep enough into every kid to their potential. Once we got them on campus with some physical talent, Hevesy could teach the football talent.
