The guy had to have let it be known he was coming back regardless cause no way that kid don't get drafted in the first 10 rounds.

I think coming back is likely a good decision for him. He is only one year out from Tommy John and I could see his velocity make a jump between now and next season which could put him up in the first round.

If we somehow get Small, Mangum, and Stovall back then that is a lot of talent to make a run next year. Small can definitely got top 5 rounds next year if not top 2 especially if he picks up a couple of mph on his fastball.

Who is our 2nd baseman next year? Rowdy was originally an infielder wasn't he? Westburg or someone else? This is assuming that Alexander still is at SS even though he barely hits above .200.

Hunter prob gone. Now we are waiting on Mac. I think if he don't go pretty quick he will be back. Boys we could have a juggernaut of a team next year.

Free swinger that lacks power potential. It's ok to swing a lot if you hit it a long way when you hit it. I believe he could be a solid left field type guy in pro ball but your Juan Pierre type guy's don't go high when they lack plate discipline

so he needs to develop some plate discipline next year at MSU? Did he strike out too much? If so, did he improve on that in the latter part of the year?

There's a big hole in our pitching staff between Friday night (small) and the back of the pen (self and hopefully price). How we fill that hole will determine if we are true contender.

I think Denver can fill one day and I'd like to see James get a shot at starting. He's got pretty nasty stuff. 93-94 mph potential.

Yeah Mangum just doesn't have the power or projects to have the power to get drafted early. He's got good, but not great speed, and his BB% has improved but isn't elite. I'd think his ceiling is an Adam Eaton type and that would require some serious development still, so teams are less likely to gamble a relatively high pick on a guy with limited upside and that many hurdles to overcome to reach anywhere near that upside, including a full swing overhaul to add lift to his batted balls. He's a really good college player, but doesn't really do anything great except consistently put the bat of the ball, which is probably the least tantalizing skill when mlb teams are projecting growth and future development of guys.

Pitching wise, we are going to need some more of these injured players to make it back and be effective plus a grad transafer or two. It would be nice if we can get out of this rut of having to pitch kids on short rest.

It's not the strikeouts that are the issue. It's the lack of walks.
