Will we even play?

Isn't LSU in more dire need of a win than we are at this point?

Yes.

Bush leads them in appearances with 21, but only 3 starts and 38 innings total.

His numbers are better than Hess's.

It's an options game. Sounds like it might be a 1 time through the lineup kind of thing for Bush. Then maybe bring in Hess depending on the situation or someone else.

Yep, make no mistake--LSU is doing whatever they think gives them the best chance of winning. They know they probably don't make the tourney with a loss today.

I wonder why they just don't start Hess then if they plan on pitching him anyway?

Yeah because now you're asking pitchers to pitch in roles that they aren't used to. I've found it always works out best to keep players in their roles as much as possible, pitchers especially.

Bush has pitched well in his spot starts. offense is going to have keep the hot streak going, have a bad feeling about Pilk today.

Hess pitched all last year in the bullpen

So LSU is taking the Tampa Bay Rays strategy of starting Sergio Romo. Interesting.

Paul Mainieri said yesterday that Lefty Nick Bush gives them the best opportunity to win ( vs us) so he will start and Hess could be used out of the bullpen if necessary. Bush pitched 3 shutout innings in 2 appearances vs MSU earlier this year, earning a save in his 2nd appearance.

Bush made 2 SEC starts this season vs South Carolina and Alabama, allowing 1 earned run in 11 innings, (.82 ERA), 8 hits with 9 Strikeouts and 1 walk.

Hmm, seems like a good motivational tool for our coaches iyam. Tell our hitters they don't think you can hit this dude

Speaking of Cann does anyone know if he's alive? He hasn't tweeted once since getting fired or updated his bio.

This is starting to kind of remind me of when Bianco walked Mangum because he didn't want Mangum to beat him and we beat them anyway. Let's hope it works out the same way.
