Something should be done about it. MLB should start utilizing college baseball more for their "minor leagues". Too many kids out of H.S. ruin their opportunity for an education and end up toiling away too long hoping for that dream. Why not let the H.S. player sign some kind of agreement for no money with a MLB team but go get an education? This is another reason to hate title 9. Now if we can get Ginn and Small through the draft, we might have something on this staff especially if we get McDonnell who will bring his pitching coach with him. I think the draft will depend completely on who we hire.

Florida is #1 in the country. Our strength of schedule jumped from 13 to 9 just after tonight's one game. Two more games against Florida will boost it even more.

One thing helping our RPI is that road games count more than home games. Due to the stadium construction, we have an abnormal number of road games and neutral site games.

The 3 wins against Ole Miss (#7) and the sweep of Arkansas (#3) are huge right now.

Let's take 2 of 3 in this series and we will be in great shape.

HUGE WIN! Great to have a winning season after all the stuff that this team has been through.

I'll be honest- I was worried that this would be a losing season after the Cann scandal plus all the road games plus all the freshmen would result in a 2010-esque season that would scare off some coaching candidates.

I'm not sure if this gets us in the Regionals or not- but at the very least it shows the potential of where we are and it shows that we're not a major rebuild.

No doubt. And we have a couple of freshmen that I think will adjust as well as our current freshmen. In 2020 we should have a veteran team at the plate.

Yep, with our basketball team we essentially had no bad losses and no good wins. With the baseball team we have lots of bad losses but lots of good wins.

Self’s cutter says hi. They couldn’t hit Self’s cutter. If we get some fortunate windfall from the draft (Small not satisfied where he’s drafted and Ginn doesn’t get his $2-3 mil figure), our pitching staff could be in decent shape. Self and Price really can seal up the backend of our bullpen.

There may be a need to supplement our pitching staff with some stud JC players to fill in until we get our new coach into things. We have several pitching commits that will NEVER step foot on campus. One may be the 2nd player taken in the MLB draft. Nice to get commits like that, but usually it is futile in the end.

I think Hatcher moves to first and Allen will be in the outfield. The position player freshmen we have will form a solid nucleus for the next couple of years. We just need a little bit of luck in the draft on the pitching side and we could make solid runs the next couple of years to Omaha. The thing about Schloss and McDonnell is not only have they won big but they have won big quickly. You can’t tell me that with the talent nucleus they have they wouldn’t do the same here. Louisville and TCU were horrible programs when they got there.

Jordan Anderson is our most talented freshman even though we don't play him. If you are RH and have power- like Rooker and Renfroe- you can still get it out of the yard. I'm not sure what the ballpark factor is for Dudy-Noble but with a LH hitter my guess is it will probably only really add 1-2 home runs for a LH hitter typically because it's a small short porch.

I think Allen will eventually take over at second once Stovall leaves. If Stovall stays I think Allen will move to the OF or DH.

Really as far as luck goes- we need some guys to get healthy. I could see Keegan James taking some big steps next year. We need Ashcraft and Breaux to do the same. We need Price to come back like Blake Smith did this year or better. And we need Self for the entire year.

Louisville and TCU don't have the resources that we do. They both have a tougher road than we do as far as having success. They both could and probably will still be good with reasonable hires if we get one of their coaches.

During opening day at the new Dude, I discussed on this board my concerns about a 305' RF corner fence made out of brick and was radiused in shape. Said it could cost us a game or it could cost an opponent a game. IMO, the round entrance above it should have been moved back another 20-30' and just have straight away normal 330-340' corner fence. I don't like cheap HRs.....hell I hit a softball over a 300' fence back in my prime playing days. Plus, the RF main entrance is dangerous to fans arriving at the game. ON OPENING DAY back in March.......as I walked into the stadium, there were 2 EMTs attending fans who had been hit in the head with a baseball from pregame batting practice. As I stood there checking out those injured fans, a ball hit about 5 feet from me.....crazy!! Mark my words, there will be a major lawsuit one day because of this and no protective netting covering the circular gathering area.

MLB teams already have this legal situation covered.

Also, I love wonky baseball fields (full disclosure: I'm a Red Sox fan). Adds lots of flavor to the park, but also gives the home team an advantage with fielding off weird structures. If that right field corner turns double into triples I'm all for it. Our guys will be better at field off of it than our opponent's guys.
