He wrote "The Right Stuff". The movie was based on his book. Only movie that I ever stood for and clapped at the end.

If you enjoyed the movie, the book was 1000x better. Such rich detail - few others could craft such great narratives.

His book Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test was terrific also. It captured some important literary and music figures of the 60s. Got me reading Ken Kesey, Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and listening to the Grateful Dead. I also enjoyed "Radical Chic and Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers". Terrific short story collection.
