did my first tandem jump Sunday. Jumped from 10,000 ft and chute deployed at 4000 ft ..... it was that 6000ft in between of pure drop that hooked me ... I'm going for certification now

oh well ... the pics look like I'm still tumbling but I'm not techno savvy enough to fix it

Who and the hell would want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?

statistics show that you are safer skydiving than driving or flying (remaining in the plane lol) ... anyway I was just wondering if there were any experienced divers here

Always wanted to try that but I just don't know if I could do it when the time came to commit.

the worst part was stepping out and committing ... the best part was the ensuing tumble that immediately followed before stabilizing .... next time the committing won't be as nerve racking .... if you've ever wanted to do it then I would highly advise doing it at least just once .... problem is I'm hooked now and it's not exactly cheap to get licensed

There's no way I could ever jump out of a plane in the air even though I'm sure it's very exhilarating.
I remember seeing an interview with one of the soldiers from Band of Brothers and he said the first time he flew in a plane he jumped out of it. That was such a fascinating thing for me to hear.

Unfortunately the military idea of parachuting is to get you to the ground as fast as possible without killing you.

I used to skydive. It was great fun but then I started having kids and quit. It is a good bit more dangerous than driving. If you stay in the sport long enough you loose plenty of friends. A girl MSU student was killed skydiving in the 90's.

get in the back of c130 jerking and jinking wildly with 59 other guys strapped down with a 100lb ruck and 60lb parachutes at 4am for a few hours puking your guts out. You will then know why.

just to add be very careful where you get trained. Back in the 80 and 90s there were 2 places you just didn't go due to their safety records, bunch of meth heads and junkies. Most of these clubs have cleaned up their act but the jubkies are still out there.

my instructor is a personal friend with over 5000 jumps ... all the staff is well experienced with most of them having over 10K jumps each ... they've been there for years without an accident .... good thing because I'm totally hooked .... oh yeah, I know what you mean about the C-130 - been in those several times but not for jumping
