View Full Version : Didn't know Brad Cumbest was....

...an accomplished baseball slugger. He is tearing it up in high school and some say he is better in baseball than as a football player. This is the kind of a 4 or 5 hole hitter I have in mind for our Diamond Dogs. About the same size as Aaron Judge and hits it almost as hard. Heard the Padres scout was blown away when he got Brad to take some batting practice with a wooden bat. He actually hit it further than with his composite or metal bat. Hope JOMO lets him play both sports if he wants to. We need big time sluggers who can put flat spots on the side of baseballs for a change. And it sounds like Cumbest is very good at it.

I read an article earlier this week that he could be a first rounder for MLB.

If he gets drafted I imagine it will probably be after round 20.

If that happens it would be the biggest rise I have ever seen. Not saying it won't happen but MLB.com released their top 100 draft prospects today and he wasn't on the list.

If he is considering a baseball career he would probably be well served by walking on to our team and hope that he develops like Renfroe and Rooker did.

Cumbest will be here in the fall and he will be a player. Great ball skills. Hard nosed kid.

Raw as hell bc his offense was basically the single wing and he ran a fade hitch and slant but he caught most of them. When the whole stadium knew it was going to him too

I think I read it linked to the true maroon FB page. I really don't wanna go digging for it. The gist of the article was he could go right into the pros and make serious money for his age. I hope he comes to MSU but it looks like if MLB wants him he could go.

I don't know what you read but he's not going anywhere near that high. He's a draft and follow guy. He will be here in the falll

That's all I've read that's why I was curious about the article. Someone will take a flyer on him late round but nowhere near a high draft pick.

^^^^This^^^^ our recruiting has been non-existent for quite a while...even if new coach hits the ground running we have lost almost a year of recruiting...
