Fair catch inside 25 yard line is essentially a touchback- will place ball at 25 yard line.

Good rule?

Don't like it. Why take the "pooch" away?

No. Not a good rule.

If the alternative is eventually removing kickoffs altogether, then it's alright. Still doesn't feel right. Something like this was inevitable after their last attempt to reduce runbacks, moving the spot for a touchback from the 20 to the 25, backfired and resulted in more.

I'm not big on it myself. They need to leave these sports alone and quit monkeying with rules.

With all the things they could do to make college football better they come up with this..

I don't see how this affects the game much at all. This will be very rare to see except for non-returners. No return man is catching the ball at the 6 and not returning it.

This wasn't to make it better, this was to make it safer.

No it's incredibly stupid, there's no point to it.

Terrible rule.

I don't care for it either. You could always call for a fair catch and the ball was placed on the spot. No need to move it forward.

Why do they waste their time with stupid crap like this when there's way bigger issues to tackle. Dumb rule!

Bad rule, IMO, but I think it’ll help my guys...

I’ll allow it...

Jesus Christ. We will be playing 7 on 7 in 10 years

The unintended consequence of the touchback going to the 25 meant it made a lot of sense to pooch kick which actually resulted in more collision plays. This rule is meant to rectify the previous unintended consequence. I don't have a problem with it.

Just do away with the kick off. And let the coin toss winning team start the game on offense at the 25 yd. line. With the way the game is headed towards regarding injuries, we'll be playing flag football in about 10 years anyway.
