I will miss Eli. I'll never forget him coming off the bench and playing lights out when we beat USCe on the road. I can't believe we are processing players of Stapleton's and Wright's caliber. just damn. we good.

And Datcher isn’t? I’d rather keep X. If Datcher is in scholarship next year, that’s disappointing. He isn’t an SEC player.

Robert Woodard will get their minutes and he is the recruit no one is talking about but is a top 50 player and will make an impact next year.

Q (probably)
Peters (probably)
Nick (hopefully)
Ado
Holman
Carter
Datcher
Feazell
Woodard
Perry
Stewart
Juco Center (can never remember name tish whatever)

That is 12. Any idea on what we do with #13? A good shooting grad transfer would be great

Why couldn't you have just said that they were transferring (as the pr article said). They had some nice positive comments about their time here?

1) anyone saying Eli should have stayed is probably basing that on a couple games late this year. If he was really worth keeping, he'd have shown up more often in his 2 full seasons. he's not terrible but i think the game just goes to fast for him to keep up

2) Datcher does suck... but Howland knows the team better than us. Maybe he's thinking of the season after this one- we'll lose Holman and possibly Ado or Perry if they have big years, so Datcher may be needed for depth after this year. X only has one more to play. While X played great at times, we also know how much he hurt his team with terrible shots and fouls. There's no telling which X you'll get- every game he's a wild card. With his attitude i wouldn't be supprised if he's also a locker room cancer. Datcher at least seems like a go with the flow kinda guy.

Next year X would be competing with Woodard and Q for the 3 spot, with Q being more of a 2-3 combo, and X being a 3-4 combo. If Howland thinks Perry and Holman will lock down the 4, and that Woodard will be more consistent, then I get dumping X and keeping a guy with a lower ceiling but more chance to contribute down the road. I'd have cut Datcher based on what I've seen on the court, but I can see where Howland is coming from and he knows infinitely more than me

And Datcher isn?t? I?d rather keep X. If Datcher is in scholarship next year, that?s disappointing. He isn?t an SEC player.

Datcher is an elite athlete with the ability to go as far as he wants to...the only thing holding him back is his "want to". He also had shoulder surgery in September of last year that slowed his progress for much of this year.

Not my assessment...straight out of the mouth of Coach Howland.

Irondawg

Datcher will show flashes, but he's one of those guys that doesn't seem to have a lot of drive. Body language on the bench and stuff makes it appear he's a good teammate and having a big guys that has some ability and is a good locker room guy is worth giving another year to try and pull production out of him. Worst case he's a great practice player.

I do really like Woodard and agree we need to use the extra spot on a true PG, even if it's a grad transfer to play a nice bench role. Be nice to find a pass first guy that's a great shooter.

Feazell is a gifted athlete, very smart, high basketball IQ and a work ethic and commitment to the team second to none...

Again, Coach Howland's description, not mine.

Sure...it was said in a public setting. But he (Coach) didn't beat around the bush when calling him out about effort, so he wasn't sugar coating the comment.

I don't think Peters would get drafted high enough to warrant, but given his mercurial nature in the past there is no telling and who knows if he kept up with his academics this semester if he's dreaming of the NBA.

I'll be really interested to see how he does in some of the camp settings

Has nothing to do with Madisonmd and everything to do with us not being able to get our players to return once they declare. Varnado was the last player to actually come back. That was almost ten years ago.

Yup. You can drown a horse in water but you can't get em to drink it. Peters been gone since Vegas. CBB is so frustrating for State fans. We don't get the truly elites that should go early we get the guys right below that who shouldn't go early but they all think they should anyways and there's literally nothing you can say/do to get them to see reality.

You really can?t draw any conclusions until he gets that grade. I wouldn?t read too much into anything he says right now. Wait until after the grade and the realization he could make more money if he returns. They all gave Howland their word they would come back unless they were a first round grade and if Lamar balls out and does that he should go. I?m not going to worry either way until we are further along in the process.

We’ve never had players declare with these new rules so your point lacks context.

If Nick and Lamar ball out and get in the first round, I want them to go. If not, they should come back like they gave their word for because with a great season next year they will be first rounders in 2019. In the end it’s all about the kids. If we have two first rounders taken this year, it’s a great thing for recruiting. That’s what kids want is to get to the league. We all should want them to go in the first round because in the end it helps everyone out.
