I'm interested in SEC only stats.

I'm interested in SEC only stats.

9 games is a really small sample size- let's look at those in 2 weeks

Notable BABIP...

Hatcher .403
Poole .391
Westburg .409

Alexander .267
Foscue .228
Jordan .220

Avg college BABIP is in the .330-.340 range.

This is a good stat to predict who should to expect to get better or worse. I.e. mangum hit .408 as a freshman with a crazy BABIP of .449. Everyone should have expected regression

So our top hitter is only at .328 (Mangum) and even he is hitting 80 points less than he hit as a freshman. Sad.

sorry for another stat question but I'm assuming the "BA" part means batting avg but what does the "BIP" part stand for?

I had to look it up - “balls in play - excluding homeruns”.

Batting Average on Balls In Play

thanks. so that means the BA when they don't strike out I would assume.

Or hit a homerun

Or hit a homerun

What’s the reasoning for excluding homeruns?

msstate7

What’s the reasoning for excluding homeruns?

Not sure other than the defender cannot actually field it, so there is no luck involved. Babip is a stat used to measure luck.

Smootness can probably give a better explanation. He is much smarter than me on the advanced stats

because we don't hit any?***

Outstanding!!! I miss guerilla ball. The old black magic would do the trick. I always liked the c-core best.
