The High School McDonald’s All American game is this Wednesday at 6 PM. The jewel of our incoming class, Reggie Perry will be playing on the West Team. Should be a fun game to watch.
Edit- Game starts at 6 CT not 8 CT.

They need to announce that, but let’s wait until after we get a year of Reggie Perry haha. But really, I think it is a necessary change that has to be made.

How many kids are on the teams? I guess it's better to ask "How many McDonald's All Americans are there?"

24 by my count. 6 going to the SEC, 3 are undecided.

Have we ever had one who actually played? I seem to remember we had one committed several years ago that never showed up... went straight to the NBA. And his name escapes me.

Malik was the last one, Renardo before him.

OK, I'd forgotten about Renardo and didn't know Newman was one. But the guy I'm talking about was probably 15 years ago.

Monta Ellis was a 5* who originally committed to us but went straight to the NBA. He was the number 2 rated shooting guard in the nation, and the 3rd best overall rated player his senior year in 2005. He was also the Parade Magazine High School Player of the Year his senior season.

Is Monta still in the league?

Never understood why they changed the rule. Don’t honestly understand it for any sport outside of football. A kid coming out of high school would be killed in the NFL and that’s not even a joke. But basketball? Many have proven it can and does work.

Anybody have negative examples for players going straight to NBA out of high school? Serious

Yep, he recently was in some contract news, but I can't remember what it was.

I would guess the nba wants a look at them vs real competition so they do not invest huge money in a bust

Reggie Perry is from Atlanta right? If so, why is he on the West team?

Mine does too now that I look at it. The articles I’ve read say 8 CT though. Glad you said that or I would’ve never known.

Reggie Perry is 6’9” 245 right now and has a similar game to Kevin Love. I’m excited about his potential here. He has a nose for rebounding and it wouldn’t surprise me if he averaged 15 and 10 and was a one and done similar to Love.

Jonathan Bender, Mario Austin, Jackie Butler (who also never made it to campus), Travis Outlaw, Monta Ellis, Renardo Sidney, Malik Newman

Now Reggie Perry.

The Dish guide also says 6:00. Might be interesting to watch a little of it.
