Pretty much now or never for any postseason aspirations. We have to win this series if we wanna be in a regional.

Really hope Stovall is catching fire. He is way too good to have struggled so much going into the midweek games this week. He is now hitting .310 and an ops at .751. I would like to see his ops end up around .850.

I wanna see Gilbert Friday night. In a SSS of 23 ABs, he only has 5 hits; but of those 5 hits, he has 3 2b and 1 hr. He has pop, and we need it.

I like what I have saw out of westburg, and want him to keep starting.

I think we get it done this weekend... 2 of 3

Skelton shouldnt take another SEC AB.

Not trying to shit on him and Im no baseball expert but he just looks defeated before he steps to the plate. Body language can tell you a lot.

Vansau doesnt look very confident to me right now either

I agree, 2 out of 3. I also want to see Gilbert, AND Westburg. I don’t care where we put him in the field

Not Missouri related: It's spilled milk or potentially another Luke Reynolds story...

Reed Smith a 10-rated PG recruit that red-shirted that was told he did not have a place on the team is killing it at Dyersburg State, leading the team in BA and RBIs, second in HRs. He also raked in summer ball.

This kid was also killing it in the fall before last season, but that does not mean anything because Skelton was a 400 hitter that fall. He may have gotten all those hits off TJs. During that fall, players were hitting 500 against Hayden Marze, Kale Breaux, and Parker Ford.

Probably so. I will point out though, we were at 12-10 (0-3 sec) at this same point last season

Reed Smith was a Cohen guy, just like Chad Bryant.

Then again, we also got Tanner Allen, who was a Cannizaro guy. I'd take that trade all day.

Postseason aspirations already left, at least concerning regionals. Now we are simply trying to make Hoover.

Program objectives for 2018:

1) Play freshmen position players
2) Get Mangum and Pilkington drafted
3) Heal arms

I have a feeling we're going to get it done. Great situation for a coach to walk into, and a great time for us to be searching.

- We (presumably) will have just had a bad season, so expectations are lowered, however any coach worth his salt can see that we will make a big rebound next year.
- Brand new awesome stadium.
- A number of big time coaches who have been at their programs for a long time and may be looking to jump.
- An AD who gets it when it comes to baseball.

Smith is also playing with Hagar Severance who was kicked off the team following a DUI I believe. They're both hitting it well. I remember thinking Reed would be our next Gridley, unfortunately he was looked down on by a certain few baseball experts on here.

Also of note, Brant Blaylock will be another guy we talk about in a few years down at USM who we will regret walking. He's hitting .333 with 9 HR, 22 RBI with only 9 k's through 16 games.

Blaylock left us and we gave him 100 ABs to prove himself. So, he is a different kind of story

Smith (6-0 190lbs 3B) seems to be a good soldier that took a redshirt year and then was let go. It’s gonna suck to see him in a Vanderbilt uniform next year. Or at Kentucky hitting 12-HRs for Miningone

Westburg is a hitter. I would definitely have him in the everyday lineup. I wish we could get Foscue and Westburg in together, but we don't seem willing to move Stovall to C.

What does Mizzou pitching look like? If that staff is any good at all, this series is impossible to win.

Hurts to say this....but this baseball team feels like our hands are handcuffed to our ankles and every team in the SEC Prison looks forward to taking their turn.

That's pretty graphic.

For me I'm just counting down the weeks until the end of the year. We're not going to the postseason barring a miracle turnaround in SEC play. I'll be OK if we win one of the three on the road. It's a lost season and a bad situation now- but there are better days ahead for us. We'll get a great coach that will develop these players and we may actually come out better in the long run.

I will be at the Saturday game, possibly the Sunday. I will be the dude in a Maroon cap chasing a 2-year-old boy. The 2-year-old will be the kid with a "what can I do" look. His head will be on swivel for balloons, hot dogs, and ladies. His idea of a good time is sitting next to a 20-year-old college girl, while holding a balloon, and eating a hot dog.

I think we win 2 games this week because we just have-to. They will be all be nail-bitters.

I wish I could fill out the lineup card:

3. Allen, LF
4. Hatcher, 1B
5. Stovall, 2B
6. LA, SS

I propose an off the wall idea: Let’s start Pilk on Saturday’s that way he’s not battling the other teams Ace’s. Will that help us possibly?

Hi, Mizzou fan here, looking forward to a fun, albeit cold, series in CoMo this weekend. We are 17-5 but not against the toughest schedule so it's hard to know exactly where we are at this year. We are changing our rotation quite a bit from the LSU series (and the way it has been for us all season). Our usual Friday guy is moving to Sunday and the new Friday guy is making his first start of the season. It might sound like we are sandbagging tonight against Pilkington, but our starter tonight was a Freshman All-American last year and has been dealing with injuries/flu bug to start the year.

Regardless, I am looking forward to this one. The MSU fans I have interacted with before at baseball in 2014 and football in 2015 have been really cool. Nice people. I realize that a lot of your focus this weekend will be in the state of Missouri, but at the Sprint Center in KC. I will be rooting for that Bulldog team to get a couple of wins. Good luck and safe travels to any of your visiting fans traveling across the Show Me State this weekend.

Maybe but at this point rather invest in Rowdy and Jordan Anderson for the future.

Macnamee got 180 ABs last year and was just ok, not sure that 225-270 batting average from an upperclassman is worthwhile. Rowdy has already tied Mac for career HRs in about 30 at bats

MacNamee hit .292 in conference play last year. This year he is hitting .242 in only 33's AB's. Rowdey is hitting .212 in 52 AB's. I think at this point we need to go with Mac and get him in a routine for a few weeks and see how he responds. He hasn't really gotten a fair shake this year. Two weeks from now if he's still not getting it down then we can go with Rowdey/Jordan.

This is also something I would like to see.

Pilk could have a sub 2.5 ERA and still have nearly double-digit losses because of almost no run support

A big reason for that is we don't start our best hitters when Pilk pitches. We go for defense.
