[Cann in my opinion was a really good hire. He fit us. But you can't predict something like what happened. Everything was good, until that one thing set everything off. That doesn't make it a bad hire because you saw what he got out of last years team. But Cann wasn't on anyone's radar for us. And he was a good hire until he went off the deep end, which again, you can't predict.]

I took this comment from another thread as to not hijack it. What I want to ask revolves around this. You’ll have to clear your mind of what has actually happened and think beyond that. Follow along with me here.

Let’s assume the Cannizaro situation had not come about and he is still in the dugout and all is well on the coaching front.

Next...none of us thought last season would be as good as it was with all of the injuries and we pretty much gave Cann the credit for it. Today, none of us thought this season would be as bad as it has been so far and appears to be headed going forward.

My question is this:
Considering the start that we have had and the prospects of a dismal season looming, would the perception still be there that the Cann hiring was a good one or would there be doubts starting to creep in or questions starting to be asked that maybe he wasn’t all we thought he was?

Most of the information coming out is Canny hasn't coached anything since the end of last year. Other than recruiting and putting videos on twitter, he was pretty checked out. I think that has had as big of an impact on the season as anything. We might not have been as good as we predicted but I still think if we had the same Canny this year as last then we would still be in the talks of a hosting Regional type of season.
