I can't believe that we went undefeated during the regular season! What a special team that isn't done yet!

Hopefully Joe Moorhead will follow them up with his own undefeated regular season.

A perfect regular season in a long season sport (like basketball and baseball) is exceedingly rare.

In college, 28 Men's teams have finished the regular season undefeated, with 8 making it thru post season undefeated.
23 (now 24) women's teams have done it, with 12 having made it thru post season undefeated.

Interestingly, 2 Mississippi teams are on those lists besides this year's women. In 1975, the Lady Statesmen of Delta State won the AIWA National Title with a 28-0 record (this is pre-women's NCAA basketball). And in 1979, Alcorn State finished 27-0, got snubbed by the NCAA, and lost in the second round of the NIT to Indiana (featuring future NBA HC Mike Woodson, Atlanta Hawk "great" and NBA HC Randy Whittman, Toronto HC Butch Carter). And who did Alcorn beat in their 1st Round game? Your Mississippi State Bulldogs, 80-78.
