Man that's tough. Kid has probably been working his whole life. He was struggling at the plate this spring though.

did we even think he would contribute?

Things and priorities change as we get older sometimes.

So a True Freshman quits a week before opening day.??
You go thru 5am workouts, conditioning, practice Ect. And quit a week before opening day?
Looks like he may have a case of *****s

Dude was a beast in high school and very highly rated. It was said, though, that his swing needed a ton of work for the college game. Very athletic and powerful but he had a lot of moving parts to his swing. I believe time with Cann could have made him a Renfroe, Rooker type. But if he is ready to bow out this early, he needs to. Who knows, he may have been encouraged to do so.

Steak is obviously tied in big time with the baseball program. He got good connections

Co’mon Owen, Brent Rooker red shirted and kept getting better

Hopefully he thinks about it and comes back to the team. I think it was mentioned on this board that he had a family member die in a tragic manner over the summer.

This is not good at all

P5 ball is a 40 hr job while trying to get a degree. It’s tough. A lot find out they don’t love ball as much as they thought once they’re at school.

Man, this is so true. It’s such a grind. You have to love it.

Plus they?ve grinded for probably 8 years with travel ball. Sometimes they just burn out, especially when you get to college, see all the fun others are having and are in full control of your decisions.

I tell people all the time that I don?t see how college athletes balance everything these days

Not to mention with travel ball, a lot of these guys have been grinding for 10 years or so. It is one of those things where it might be better to play different sports throughout the year to keep from getting burnout.

And in Renfore's case, you sometimes have to leave it to realize how much you love it.

I agree with you, Federalist, sometimes a break gives you a new perspective.
