before they become totally extinct on the MSU roster soon. These extremely rare creatures are so hard to find in the wild you are lucky to get a glimpse of them maybe once a year. Here is what one looks like. Please be very careful around them they are fragile athletes that must be protected at all times or they will disappear for good.

We will have 14 OL on the roster next year as it stands. We lose 2 starters after next season. In 2019, we will have Champion, Eiland, Story, Williams, Suggs, Reese, and Johnson coming back with strong experience, and probably Parker as well. That's 8 guys for 5 slots.

Is it important that we focus on some OL for the 2019 signing class -yes.
Making our OL situation out to look like the cupboard is bare is just false.

You ... you just don't seem to understand. As MSU fans we are REQUIRED to melt down about something related to our football program on a yearly basis.

If there's nothing to melt down about, some phantom issue must be created (he ain't beat nobody in the SEC West not named Ole Miss) and repeated ad nauseum until everyone is completely sick of hearing about it.

Worrying about the OL 3 years from now may be a new record for advanced melt though. Even looking ahead to 2020, we will still have Reese, Parker, Suggs, and Johnson around. And, believe it or not, there are other recruiting classes coming in beyond this year (I know, shocking isn't it).

Btw, what happened to the guy we offered late..... from Kansas I think? Can't remember his name. I assume he signed elsewhere.

It is funny that there is a picture of Rankin when Eiland probably played more snaps and he has 3 more years if he doesn't go pro early. We very well could have a run of drafted Oline for the next several years.

There can't possibly be another fan base in the whole country that is freaking out over their 2021 O-lineman situation.

You all need to go listen to Coach Jo's press conference from yesterday and you will feel much better about going forward.

Good rational post, 2019 still looks good w/ 3 guys who will be 3 year starters by that point as we can find 2 more guys that can play out of the group you listed... and Story has already played and surely Champion will be a decent starter.

And yeah even in 2020 we might not have to start THAT many people (maybe 1 or 2) from the 19 & 20 classes assuming Suggs & Johnson are starter quality.

Injury possibility, depth, and just having the number of guys you need on a college team to have physical practices are the concern though. Carrying WAY under the number of guys you want "ideally" to have a good 2nd team and scout team OL

When you say fan base, you are only talking about a few posters on message boards freaking out on anything they hear concerning the MSU football program that they consider bad, etc. Most are uninformed and some just like to argue it seems. They are not representative of how the the overall MSU fan base acts.

We should have Eiland in 2020, too.

Coach Huff was named the 4th best recruiter in the nation last year and his running backs can't run without an OL. He'll get us some fat boys.

what about the Philips Kid?

I overlooked him - I was wondering if he might redshirt this year. If he does, great, that puts him in the depth for 2019 and 2020.
