Could be Peterson's opportunity as an on field coach.... Fountain was only an analyst at UGA after getting fired as ST coach at Auburn... UGA lost 2 coaches in last few weeks...

It's a domino effect - Shane Beamer left UGA to be Asst. HC at Oklahoma, leaving UGA without a Special Teams Coordinator. It's not a "what's going on with our staff".

Special teams coordinator

That would be a great place for Peterson to be.

Yes it would and also remember that Coach Huff was the special teams coordinator at Penn State the last couple of years as well as RB coach. We also still have Chris Boniol on staff.

If the shoe doesn't fit don't wear it. Better for him to leave now than when spring practice starts

This hurts. Would have been nice to have his recruiting contacts in Ga. No way around it. When we had an in with Ga. in the past, we pulled some good football players out of there.

Any chance we give Joe Judge a call since his move to Indy didn't happen?

Special Teams coordinator is a pretty important position on our staff. I think I would kind of like to get someone that is a special teams guru who can recruit- like Fountain- but then keep Peterson where he is.

If it were me I would go after James Shibest at Virginia Tech personally. He's one of the top special teams coaches in the country and he has a lot of SEC experience and Memphis area experience.

Chris Boniol gives us a lot of flexibility because he could coach special teams and he has NFL kicking coach experience. I also saw that we added a grad assistant who is from the Citadel who is supposed to be a long snapping guru.

I'd be willing to kick the tires on it but I doubt he comes to MSU.

Joe is getting a big raise to stay with the Pats. He is an integral part of BB staff in New England.

He was on the list for actual head coaching candidates. The MSU job is his dream job but he was also at the bottom of the list. Belichek has him as the Special Teams Coordinator and it is almost as important to BB as the OC and DC. He has now worked for Saban and BB for several years so he obviously knows what he is doing or he wouldn't have lasted.

Dream job? He's never said this.
