The grandstand kinda reminds me of Texas A&Ms stadium. But I agree, if there was any doubt we had the best stadium in college baseball before, its gone now.

March 6th is gonna be special

I drove by it two weeks ago, it’s even more impressive in person. The lounge is different, but it’s still going to be unique and if the people out there embrace it, it might be even better. It looks much closer to the field over all. I can’t wait to see what it looks like when it’s full.

Love the grandstand, entrance, everything... except the LFL. It’ll never be the same. Won’t feel the same.

I was in town last weekend and stopped by to see the progress. Standing there it?s hard to believe what you are looking at is on a college campus. It?s phenomenal.

That turf actually looks great with the grass, I guess having the best field and turf management department in America helps that!

Wait until they build the lofts. That place is going to be amazing.

Went by the stadium a couple weeks ago, and I was very surprised by how much it's going to stand out from Hwy 12. I was concerned that the Palmeiro Center and the Hump would continue to dwarf the home plate entrance, but that's not a problem anymore. It's going to be fantastic from every angle.

Thanks for the links. After looking through the gallery, I have two questions:

1) What's the big rectangular hole in the batter's eye for? I would assume TV cameras, but why so big?

2) Regarding the circular wall in the RF corner, shouldn't the foul line continue up the wall to the foul pole so you can see the location of the line on the wall? I guess they could paint it on, but it would be cool if they did a row or two of white bricks to make the line.

I suspect they’ll have some level of padding on the lower half of the RF corner wall. They could put the foul line on that, in part.

I've been told there will be three cameras there.

Yes, there will be padding on the circular wall - they're already starting to put it up. But, it only goes as high as the outfield fence, so there's a lot of wall left above the padding.

That brings up another question...doesn't there need to be a vertical line at the intersection of the OF fence and the circular wall so that a ruling can be made on a ball that hits the circular wall in that area? If a ball hits the circular wall to the right of the intersection point, it's a fair ball and in play; if it hits to the left of the intersection point, it's a home run.

I don't know if any of y'all noticed, but the roof is being covered with what appear to be wood-look shingles. I didn't see that in the renderings, and it's a great look!

That is the insulation board material. There will be a final standing seam metal roof put on top of that. The metal you see now is just the decking material. They must be ahead of schedule because from what I saw in the original bid documents, the metal roof and insulation board were not going to be installed until after the 2018 season.

I wish someone could take an overlay of the old Dudy Noble and put on top of the new Dude to show a comparison of sizes of each. It would have to be someone a whole lot smarter than me however.

I don?t know anything about the bid specs - but it looks to me like they are way ahead of schedule in general.

I kind of thought that they could have gotten it built in a year- but I'm glad that we allotted enough time where we didn't have to rush things. To me the stadium won't be "complete" until next year once the lofts are done.

I'm very, very pleased with everything so far.

Guys I have to say, I've never been a season ticket holder for football or basketball. I just bought online or got them from family or friends for free. I've only had baseball season tickets and this has got to be the best $4000 investment I've ever made (not braggin') to have season tickets to this edifice for the next 10 years. We will have national title banners hanging in this stadium, gentlemen. You can bank on that! Cann and Cohen are the damn Wonder Twins!

I've been wondering about that. Are you going to have to clear the semi-circle for a HR? If a ball glances off the semi-circle and goes over the fence, what is it?

Where the hell are they going to put the Farm Bureau sign? There's not enough room behind home plate now. Who designed this thing? Damn!

I'm far from a baseball expert, but I don't think a line is needed there.

Each ballpark can set its own ground rules. Like in the old Minn Twins Metrodome, "if the ball hits the speakers hanging from the roof, the rule is ________" (foul ball; ground rule double; whatever)

It looks like the flight of the ball would determine whether its a home run or not. If it glances off the round wall but still carries over the fence, then it's a home run. If it bounces off that wall (to the left of the foul line) but manages to remain in the filed of play, no home run.

Just a guess. Interesting question though.
