About to see my first game in Tupelo- pretty nice set up for the club. Is the university able to give them any financial support at all? Decent crowd already in the stands vs LSU.

No university support at all. My understanding is they have to pay for everything personally, including practice ice time.

Are they any good? If so, can we move hockey up to NCAA level and move men's BB down to club level?***

You don't want to go there.

10-3. LSU only had 8 players. They were worn out

Does the team play home games in Tupelo? If so, why? Is that the closest ice to Starkville?

I seem to remember they played in Decatur a couple of years ago, probably at Point Mallard.

Hockey's a lot of fun to watch, but I don't know if it'd ever go over as a supported sport at MSU. It's pretty popular at UAH but they don't have football ... just baseball and basketball, and that's at a much lower level than the what we are at MSU.

Tickets are $6 and they sell beer at the games.

That's a couple of good reasons. How's the attendance? Does any SEC school have a "real" team (as opposed to club)?

The conference that they are in plays their conference tournament in Nashville at the Ford Ice Center. Tupelo has always been our home ice. Ole Miss has their home ice in Southaven. With them being a club team, they are not officially supported by the Athletic Department. They also have to be signed off on by Intramural Sports.

It’s been years since I have gone and attendance was 2-3k. I believe Kentucky has a D1 team.

Not too many small college towns have ice arenas. Bama plays their home games at Pelham too

Ice arenas seem pretty inexpensive to build. Let's make this happen Cohen.

I think Bammer started playin' the hockey in 2005... If things gone well this season, I think we'll have a shot at our 19th Hockey NC...

I'm not going until they resurrect and put a 5 star, woolly mammoth in at goalie, though.
