Abdul Ado- Rebounding- 6th (7.1 RPG)
Blocks- 3rd (2.5 BPG)

At this point in the season, I would grade our post play as a B. I am happy about how they have been playing, and with our talent in the back court, we really just need some good post play to compete with the big boys. However, I would like to see us move up to to the A- range to really compete for a title. I think we need to see Holman take on more of the offensive big man role (posting up on the block) and Ado continueing to be the defensive force down low.

What do you guys think we need to see from our bigs to beat teams like Kentucky and A&M?

Ado impressed me a lot Tuesday night. All he needs is more mins. He will be a really good player for us

Holman has been really good this year, but he was shaky at best Tuesday. I really hope Tuesday was not a sign of his sec play after a strong OOC

Holman should be fine.. He was really productive against Cincinnati, and they were probably the most equivalent to what he’ll see in SEC play out of all our non-conf games.

He had 1 subpar game. Before Tuesday he had scored in double figures 6 straight games. It's not like he's in a slump.

I would like for us to run a couple of set plays to get Holman open 3 pointers. Sort of like we used to do with Todd Merritt. He shoots a great % from behind the arch.

60%. He's been by far our most efficient 3 point shooter. Spacing is the name of the game now a days. He's a great stretch 4 but can also block shots on D and he will dunk on you. He does not need to post up to be effective.

Anyone who’s critiquing our post play doesn’t understand our fundamental concepts. We push the ball. It’s not the post players jobs to score on the break. The G’s have to push and find open shots for the team. Our offense runs through them.

Ado is a defensive specialist. Getting blocks that lead to transition points is how he contributed tonoffense. He’s also gotngreat hands and feet and will consistently get better in the half court set.

Holman is so long I hope he’ll continue to be a top 5 SEC rebounder. With Ado playing helpsidr D and coming off his man to block shots, we have to have others crashing the boards. Q being aggressive on the boards against arkansas helped us a lot. We need that to continue, along with good minutes from the bench. I’ll also say this. It’s not ok for G’s to average under 2 rebounds per game. They have to help too.

Post play has certainly changed over the years...as mentioned above, post play is used more for setting up the inside/outside game which requires great emphasis on spacing. I'm still a fan of the traditional back to the basket post play. It's very difficult to defend a player who can establish position on the blocks, rotate to the basket and execute a drop-step move. We have several plays designed to do this and Aric has shown great improvement with his footwork this year and his best games IMO have been where he has executed some textbook drop steps and worked the perimeter. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense and creates mismatches when you have a guy that can play on the blocks and shoot the three. It's really gonna be fun when Reggie Perry gets here as he can do both of those, PLUS put the ball on the floor and go around people!

It was obvious in the Arky game that we were posting up Ado and getting the ball to him on the blocks. I'm thinking he will improve his footwork around the basket a bunch as the year goes on. I don't expect it to become our primary offense, but we should continue to improve our post play.

He is Shaq shooting free throws. He’s also not going to be a 3-point specialist. What he has is unique. It’s incredibly valuable to a team that wants to push the ball. Sub offense/defense with him down the stretch when we’re winning close games and we should be fine.
