We continue to look terrible offensively against bad teams in the 1st half. I keep wanting to believe this team can find some mojo but my eyes keep telling me otherwise.

If we don't pull it together there the SEC season is going to be long. We can't just expect to wear people down in the 2nd half like we have against some of these lesser talented teams.

Why is this team so opposed to throwing the ball in to the low post? So many times Ado or someone else is posted up with good position, and practically ignored. I'm sure the fact that there isn't much our big guys can do with the ball right now is part of the consideration, but Peters air balling a three out of bounds couldn't possibly be a better outcome than whatever happens after throwing the ball to Feazell who's got position right under the basket. I don't understand why at minimum Howland isn't telling them to throw it in and right back out again just to move the defense.

6-6 and smooth with hands. It really wouldn’t surprise me if he sees the field quick. Even as talented as we are here he’s such a game changer at 6-6 with speed and hands. I can’t believe he wasn’t rated higher. Recruiting rankings make no sense to me.

Well one reason may be that Ado has been turning the ball over when he gets it. Another reason is because some think they are still playing AAU ball.

Saw some things I liked tonight, but blanking out for extended minutes(especially in the first half) has me puzzled. I keep thinking we are gonna get our shooting back to a reasonable level, but it has been one or two guys that shoot well for a game. Q and Holman have been the only ones to even remotely play consistent from game to game.

I hope we are just playing down to the level of competition and these guys find their shot soon!

5-25 on your home court isn't atrocious it is worse. 55% FT shooting is just plain unacceptable. Can someone please explain what the overall offensive concept of this team is? I mean besides going bombs away from 3 point land.

It's a motion offense...problem is that the players go through the first set and if they don't get a shot, they stop moving instead of following the progression they go over in practice. I bet Howland yells "MOVE!" at them 600 times a game! Another problem is that we aren't very good with our ball screens...the timing and spacing don't look right to me which causes the play to break down and players to be out of position.

Of course, that's my read and if I really knew what I was talking about, I would be getting paid millions of dollars to coach somewhere. Ha!

Watch him when he plays. He deserves more than 2 minutes a game. Any minutes he gets over Herard is a plus right now. Both him and Feazell. Until Herard can learn to play like a 6'11 guy.

It's a motion offense all right... We go through the motions of saying we have an offense. What we really have isn't even street ball. It's run down the court and throw up a shit shot.

Feazell thinks quick in a zone. Makes fast decisions. We need to get him more minutes because he seems like the only one smart enough to consistently position himself to bust a zone.

No one else can do it or is willing to do it. We either jack up a contested 3, turn the ball over, or make an ill advised drive to the basket.

Datcher has been totally absent since turning his ankle. Whenever he can recover from a twisted ankle and contribute again he needs minutes. Might be a career ending ankle twist though based on how little Howland has played him in the last 3 weeks.

Did not even have to watch the 2nd half!

I talked to EJ after the game on Saturday and asked about his ankle thinking that was why he didn't play...He told me his ankle was 100% good to go.
I didn't inquire further as I avoid issues that may involve anything other than on court performance. Not sure if he is a victim of a tightening of the rotation, but that doesn't make much sense given how he was playing prior to the ankle injury. I suppose it should be noted that Howland has a history of being very conservative bringing back players after injuries, so that may be all there is to it.

Datcher isn't in the top 8 in rotation. Neither is Herard so they aren't seeing minutes as we gear up for SEC play. If those two want to play more they need to figure out how to be big dudes on the court not just off the court. Herard is a total wtf to me. I can't imagine being that damn big and not wanting to rip down the rim every second you're on the court.

Herard has no instinct on rebounding. If He would just defend and rebound that would be great. He should get 6-8 points a game on offensive rebounding. wish LRob could teach him.

We can nitpick Herard's game all day but really it boils down to his personality. He's just too damn nice for a guy that must rely solely on his size to be effective. He can't dribble, pass or shoot so that means he has almost zero skill. His skill is his size and he's too damn nice to use it effectively. Herard is probably a great person with tremendous character off the court but we need him to beat the shit outta guys on the court and he doesn't understand that. Get your big ass on the block and refuse to move. Push others off that spot and rip the ****ing rim down on every rebound. It's really that simple. Stand a foot from the basket and kill everything that comes close to you. Until he learns that he's just going to be a horrible basketball player. It's like Shaq trying to be a pretty little flower while playing basketball. Doesn't work.

Yea he's anxious cause he's afraid to **** up and that's on Howland cause he hasn't effectively taught Herard what he's good at doing. Being huge. Be 6'11. REBOUND/DUNK/BLOCK SHOTS. That's it.

If only he was smart enough to realize all he has to do is stand a foot from the basket at all times and dunk everything that comes off the rim.
