Leroy Jenkins

Guidry said we had a new one, but could not be named yet. Ive been out of the loop lately.

I'd be nice if Jerry Rice gave back to his home county.**

From what I'm hearing I do. He's not a name that easily jumps out so I'm sure most will say it's a bad hire.

Because our fans are convinced that if you make it to the NFL you can't recruit.

He pulled some good talent when he coached at USF

I'm good with it. I like having a few NFL guys on staff. I just wish a few more of our fans were. Everyone needs to give these guys a year before forming an opinion on them.

I do too. You can’t tell me it doesn’t appeal to recruits to be coached by guys who have been to the highest level.

Spot on. People are melting way too much about who Moorhead is hiring. And throwing things out there like "hire Jerry Rice" makes people sound about as smart as OM people believing Archie was going to gift them Tony Dungy.

95% of position coaches in college and the NFL are guys no one has ever heard of.

That's actually really impressive- better than any WR or TE we've pulled on paper in Mullen's whole tenure, and he did it in two seasons.

Would be a MASSIVE upgrade at WR coach if this is the hire ..

What happened (if anything) with the alleged offer to Lubuku for LB corch?

I was jut thinking the same thing. Some people think just because someone was great at a position automatically makes them a good coach. Is Jerry Rice even coaching at all?

Official offer was made, but there has been no public response yet. Since we haven't heard anything else, I would be willing to bet he said yes but after the season. Since we do not have any blue chip LB prospects we need to hold onto or one that we are desperately after, him getting here immediately feels like a low priority.

I like the fact he has excelled from smaller schools like Maine and USF then went to the NFL. It shows he knows what he is doing. We definitely wouldn't have a WR go to the combine and have no clue what a route tree is. He also can't be much worse of a recruiter than Gonzo.

FWIW, Steve said it wasn't a Bills or Saints guy.

If that's true, my money is on Derek Dooley as Co-OC and WR.

Kind of like Golden Corral going to Oxford, Ms. Both would be getting paid to come so that makes the culture thing easier.

That's weird. I read on a Cowboys blog last week Dooley was rumored to be getting back in the SEC.

I'd be good with Dooley. He used to be LSU's recruiting coordinator under Saban and he knows how Tennessee works and who their boosters are. He has a lot of SEC experience and he was successful at La Tech as a head coach. Now he has NFL WR coach on his resume' as well and he has coached all of the skill positions on offense at some point except for QB and I think he has coached special teams too.

He also has a law degree which could come in handy when Ole Miss threatens to sue him or us.

A folding chair with a MSU logo on it would be better as recruiting than any members of the country club.
