Averaged 5 and 5 last year as a true freshman...played hard just needed to learn to play basketball. He is a non-factor this year. Wtf?

He looks worse than John Reik. His footwork and hands are baaaaad. As a big man you can?t survive without those.

He didnt last year tho- thats my question...He should be a 10 and 10 guy this year

He is so passive and unsure of himself in everything he does on the court. It's all mental with him. He needs to drink some red bulls or something before the games. He's too nice which isn't a problem 99.9% of the time in life but it is when you're 6'11 240 lbs and trying to play SEC basketball.

If you could put X's mindset in Herard's body he'd be unstoppable.

Oh his footwork and hands were bad last year. We had to play him lots of minutes last year and he still only averaged 5 and 5. Gavin Ware played the same number of minutes his frosh year and averaged over 10 pts a game.

He has no hands with very little offensive moves around the basket and also is not coordinated enough to play defense and rebound is why he is a non factor this year when we have other post players with more talent and upside than him. He probably could not even catch 10 rebounds.

He is our 3rd best #5. Bust!

Pretty much nailed it IMO...

I'm still bullish, just gonna take some time.

He hasn’t come along I’m sure like they have hoped. But tonight was a bad matchup for him. Their big guys played away from the basket a lot and against that 1\3\1 zone they played we played to matchups.

As others have said, he played more last year out of necessity. He wasn't any better than he is now. He did most of his damage last year during a 3-4 game stint where Howland started force-feeding him to try to establish some semblance of a post presence. Teams simply adjusted and he faded back for about the last 1/4 of the season.

He still has tons of potential. He'd be night and day better if he could just catch the ball cleanly consistently and calm down a little.

Actually, he did last year, too...it's just he was our only option, so he got more touches....

We need Shaq to teach him how to be a big mean mother****er for a month. How much it cost us to get Shaq to beat him up for a month till he's mean??

Fundamentally, I can think of at least 20 centers with better moves than Shaq. He was just very large/strong, hard matchup.

I'd like to see him with the mental toughness of Kevin Garnett.

Of course there's hundreds of centers better skilled than Shaq but that's the point. There's nobody better at banging around and dominating a game with their size than Shaq. Herard needs to play like Shaq. Just be big as **** and throw everybody out the paint.

a better question is wtf has happened to Peters--He has forgotten how to drive and dish. Or drive and get fouled.

Well, thats my point. He should be improved this year and able to give us some inside post help but he isn't. Very disappointing

He is looking like a player that should be encouraged to transfer.

It is disappointing, but some players are what they are.

I think Peters did something that pissed off the team so he's walking on eggshells right now. He's fine just doesn't want to come across as a selfish me first type player his first game back after a 3 game suspension. That's how I read his play last night.

well he needs to be the Peters from last year. He looked like shit warmed over last night. we need Datcher and Ado on the court together.

Peters wasn't great for half the games last year either. This is why I said there's no way he's a lottery pick right now. The summer talk was always BS, those teams don't play defense. Don't play defense and Peters looks like an NBA All-Star. He'll figure out more consistent play it's just gonna take him some time. We benefit greatly from that.
