That's why he needs to concentrate on recruiting and not his staff or the bowl game. If he walks into a kid's house and builds trust, then tells the kid "You're gonna love who I'm getting", the kid won't care who it is.

Wonder if he won't contact Bob Shoop. I know they didn't work together at Penn St and Tenn struggled (although I think it was Jones and the culture) but he had some very good defenses at Vandy and Penn St (#2 in the country in 2014, #14 in 2015)

Just at Tenn though. From 2011-2015 at Vandy and PSU he was very good. Really think you don't go from two straight Top 15 defenses to the crap at Tenn because it was on him. The turmoil and disfuction at Tenn has to be taken in account

His base is a 4-3 over and sticks with the 4-3 even with 3 wideouts on early downa. Uses a hybrid LB/Safety to cover the slot.

I have a hunch Jim Leonhard will get a look from Wisconsin for our DC. He’s a DC/Safties coach who runs a multiple defense and has an attacking style. He’s a young great defensive mind and a great recruiter. Would make sense that we wouldn’t have named him yet since they were preparing for B1G championship last week. He makes $1.2 mil a year right now. We could bump that up to $1.8 mil a year and he could get a higher profile in the SEC especially with the defense we have coming back. I don’t have inside sources but IMO that is a DC that checks all of Moorhead’s boxes and he has some familiarity with him being from the Big Ten.

I think you guys need to get it out of your head with this “we won’t get them because of this or that” bullshit. With the money we are offering and the league we are in, we will put together an outstanding staff that will coach and recruit like we have never seen at MSU period.
