I get that UCA is an FCS school, but pulling a head coach to be a position coach/Kinda coordinator would be quite the coup.

Didnt JoMo go from Fordham to Penn State on that same track?

Considering the year he is having... and wanting to win another NC, which he has done in every level he has coached at...I wonder if the timing will work...

I'm betting he would relish the opportunity to work under Moorhead and learn his system thinking that he might have the opportunity to become HC if Moorhead left in the future (which we all know he will one day).

I really hope this comes to fruition. Hes a great coach and knows this State like nobody's business.

Only getting paid $200,587 at UCA and thats after a $15k bump for going 10-3 last year.
That could be doubled in a blink of an eye.

I agree. Would be 100% improvement over Hevesy.

If Campbell gets the title of Co-OC beside his name, you can bet his salary will be north of $1mill

I would love to have Campbell on staff. That means that Looney will stay at TE likely.

We were a lot better that year on offense also. I know a guy that played for him and he really liked him as a Oline coach.

Didn't Hevesy have Co-OC by his name and make like $600k? I know Moorhead's coaches will get paid more, but I'm not sure we are going to have a co-offensive coordinator get paid more than $1M

Coach Moorhead took a pay cut to get his assistants more $$$. Grantham was making over $1 Mill. Wasn't Hevesy making over $750k?

You would have to name him a co-OC. Maybe even associate HC. And pay him a pretty penny. But he doesn?t quite have his 20 years in MS in so that would be attractive to him.

I think JOMO's 1st hire is going to be assistant head coach . (or something like that)

Really Clark?

I think Coach Joe was given a big pot of money for coaches. Hell if I can make more at a position coach I would take it.

As of a year ago, here's what our staff was making, per USA Today (http://sports.usatoday.com/2016/12/07/msus-assistants-total-lowest-combined-salary-in-sec/):

Peter Sirmon - $635,000
John Hevesy - $400,000
Billy Gonzales - $400,000
Greg Knox - $400,000
Terrell Buckley - $360,000
Brian Johnson - $350,000
Brian Baker - $300,000
Scott Sallach - $225,000
Maurice Linguist - $225,000
Nick Savage - $150,000

27th highest total staff payroll in the nation, but last in the SEC (not including Vandy).

I'm pretty sure Hevesy and Gonzales were both co-coordinators with Mullen, right? So even something in the $500k to $600k range for a co-coordinator would be a significant bump from the previous staff.

I tried to find out what Charles Huff made at Penn State last year as the RB/ST coach, but it doesn't appear to be publicly available. Anyone else having luck finding that?

I might have pulled that number out of my ass but it seemed like he got a big raise last year along with bringing in Grantham. I know Grantham had a $1Mill a year deal with a 3 year contract.

I guess it depends on what he is making now and how bad do you want him. How much we are paying Coach JoeMo, I don't think we are going to just go stupid with $$$. There are not many people I would pay $1 Mill for but I also don't know the market. I would think if we had gotten Don Brown or kept Grantham that more than $1 Mill would be worth it. I don't know if Huff is making that but being one of the premier RB coaches and premier recruiters might make him worth it.

So lets take these as a baseline. ~3.5 M for 2016 Staff.
Add Grantham in we are at ~4.2.
Add in Don's salary and raises and the whole shooting match is around 8M.
Lets say we go with 8 as our budget.
JoMo get 2.7
How would you split the other 5.3 by the 10 Asst Coaches (rule change for Jan).

DC
CoOC RB/ST (Huff)
CoOC OL (Campbell ?)
TE (Looney)
WR
QB
DL
LB
CB
S

I would pay 1.5 mil if I had to to get the best defensive coordinator possible. But JoMo is our OC so no one on offense will make more than 500k.

SmokeyDawg

Seems like the other Co OC would be a wr coach or a QB coach if Huff will be the running game coordinator
