The process is the punishment, that's why. They ultimately flinched, but the NCAA at least made it painful for UM during the process. The problem is, that won't work going forward because schools will be able to point to basically every punishment since USCw and say don't worry, the punishment won't be bad.

once they were informed they were under investigation, that should have been considered a warning however according to the COI, they continued to cheat while under investigation. WOW, just WOW. When you read some of that letter, it's 17ing amazing. I have no doubt a ton of tobacco money made it up to Indy.

The NCAA lessened the scholarship penalty to hold the bait in front of OM. They will be back to their old ways pretty fast but what is looming is the 3 years probation. They get caught again, they are toast. Problem is if they do try it, there wont be a mama in the world that will talk money with them knowing they might be recorded now.
