Amazing, right? Quick story from his first meeting with the Fordham Gridiron Club. it was a restaurant in midtown Manhattan for the "Meet the Recruits" night where we get to see the list of new commits on signing day, watch videos, etc. It was always a day where we would watch these videos of HS kids playing and oooh and aahh about their potential when in reality you have no idea how good a kid is going to be in college since you don't know the level of play they're in, how they'll develop, etc.

So instead of showing a video on a recruit, Joe gets up to talk about the off season conditioning program they were putting the kids through. For the next 45 minutes he and the S&C coach go through videos and a presentation that shows the daily 6am workout sessions where every single drill they did was a competition that included a total focus in those drills on attention to detail. Not only were you competing in the drill but if your finger wasn't perfectly behind the tape to start you were penalized, etc. It was an amazing change in culture for our program that was full of undisciplined but talented kids who had gone 1 - 10 the year before. By the end of the presentation we had not seen on video on any new recruits but i still remember saying to friends that I was chomping at the bit to put on a helmet and just go hit something. Also made me think about my attention to detail in my business, etc.

He's very, very motivational and it's true. He will get MSU kids to play with a level of confidence that they can play beyond where they thought their ceiling was.

My conclusion...Coach Joe wouldn't have recruited half of Ole Miss's team.

I know Franklin has a bad rep with some people, but he is a guy who is prepared for everything and that has to be something that has rubbed off on Moorhead. I honestly know very little about Franklin's x's and o's but he is a guy who has a plan, b, c and d for every scenario.
