Kind of what I’m thinking. 30’ish scholly’s, another bowl ban, 5 year probation, reduced visits, forfeited wins, etc

As long as it is north of 25 scholarships they are crippled the next three to five years. 25 plus two shit recruiting classes (2017/2018), attrition, and the need to operate with restraint....doomed. Anything beyond that number just adds more suck time to the program.

25 scholarships, in my mind equates, factoring academic casualties, discipline, unfulfilled talent, etc , to two classes worth of on field presence/quality roster depth. They signed a crap class last fall and they have nothing of note this year. I think it will and should be higher and more severe, but 25 is my floor.

NCAA could have used the MSU press conference (10:00 am) today to hand out copies to the press - with a commitment (wink-wink) that they would keep it a secret until tomorrow.

I firmly believe they will appeal and summarily denied. They will then sue in federal court. I believe this is the reason for the delay in sanctions, not the egg bowl. The NCAA will make sure they have a lock tight case. They know ole miss will go nuclear.

I think they take their medicine. Talked to an OM booster in WP the other day and he said they are just ready for this to get here and be over with. Said the evidence was too much and they are ready to move forward . Take that for what it is worth. He also was pretty realistic and fully expects to get hit pretty hard. He was thinking 35-40 over 4yrs and 2 yr bowl ban.

The Federalist Engineer
11-30-2017, 01:30 PM
So no death penalty? No SEC banishment? What about forfeited SEC money?

This is just short term pain, in 5 years they are back cheating like nothing happened

starkvegasdawg
11-30-2017, 01:32 PM
There is no need. Had a shart I work with tell me he called someone on campus this morning and that he was assured it was basically accepting self imposed and adding a show cause for Freeze and Barney. The NCAA was more wanting to punish individuals instead of the institution. You just can?t make this stuff up. Still in denial.

TUSK
11-30-2017, 01:34 PM
So will 30 over 4 be killer for them?

anything beyond 5-6 scholarships lost per year is paralytic for a program like Mississippi...

anything beyond 9 scholarships lost per year will arguably be worse than the Death Penalty...

Especially if the NCAA let's current players leave without losing an eligibility....

I will say this, someone is gonna look bad. They honestly think they get off "light". State folks think they get hammered.

If they do get hammered, I'm expecting a suicide or 2 because they truly believe they won't get much more than they have imposed.

If it goes their way, our bunch will go into a slobbering rage...... and everyone in the SEC will go balls to the wall cheating wise.

It's incredible (in the literal sense of the word) that this was some vast conspiracy against Ole Miss and that it all fell apart in the COI, but it's also incredible (in the literal sense of teh word) that a guy who aspires to be a (sports?) journalist when he grows up would spew obvious nonsense like this when he is in theory trying to start his career in journalism.

The point is, all the sources who Neal, Ben, and Steven are using have a vested interest in OM surviving this case.

If destruction is imminent, they know their best option is to leak shit to these "journalists" about "quiet confidence", "Leo's bad day", "the COI's crumbling case", "collusion", etc., so when the hammer does inevitably fall, they can fain surprise that it did, and the water-carriers can point to the info provided by their "sources", and continue the witch hunt mantra. Its obviously to the point of being sad.

These morons have literally ZERO credibility, and they're going to use every ounce of it to calm their cravat-wearin' masses, and instead direct their full-froth anger against us and the NCAA.

So what? Are we not allowed to discuss things?

Evidently not

If y?all didn?t expect this crap you haven?t been paying attention. Every time something bad is about to happen to them they trot crap like this out. It?s their mouthpieces. Come on folks. The thing I find hilarious is that they think this is somehow going to help them even in the unlikely event it is real. The real story is that they claim to have recorded conversations with a recruit?s family and have explicitly said that they will use it against you if you don?t sign with us. That?s pure poison to THEM even if it?s real, which I doubt.

Another point often overlooked....economics 101. They have to maintain their cash paying audience. By appearing to lead the fight with pipe dream info they will continue to be the go-to sources of the Confederate Rebel Bear sharks-sharks faithful.

This is what I'm thinking as well -- 35+ lost schollies over 4 yrs with 2 additional years of bowl bans with 7 years probation.

Hail State & GTHOM!!!

To the tune of "The Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe"

Do ya hear that train comin' down the track?
It means the COI have sent their findings back,
And tomorrow there'll be hell to pay
For repeatedly defying the NCAA.

21 infractions, that's a ton,
(And only half a dozen aren't level one.)
Do ya think it's Ross's final day
When the penalties arrive from the NCAA?

Here she comes
Whoo hoo hoo hoo hoo
Hey, Hugh you've preached your last rebuke.
Whoo hoo hoo hoo hoo
At least when this thing crashes you can blame Matt Luke.

By the time the sun has set again,
They'll be hashing through the details on ESPN
And in Oxford, by the end of day,
Someone'll try to sue the NC-double-A.

RE: Suing the NCAA

If Bammer didn't have the balls to do it in the early 00s after that railroad job, Ole Miss sure as hell better not try it with their Tier 3 lawyers...

I just don't see OM opening themselves up to what depositions and subpoenas could potentially expose...

You talking about the Albert Means case? Yeah right! The reason Bama didn't sue was their Memphis booster was guilty as hell and somebody from Bama took care of that loose end.

Really Clark?

I have offered no opinion on what they will be other than both they and us will probably be mad.

Be like Norm McDonald on SNL after the OJ verdict, "This just in, double murder is now legal in California"

That's funny, Spidey.

IF it?s light, the Wild Wild West will become a free for all the same way it did when Auburn got off after Cam.

Yeah and I think we just hired a coach that will have no part of it.
But, I must say I want no part of it either, Bracky is my hero.
