First off, I?m pissed. Wanted Mullen to stay. But I?m content with the fact he took a better job. And that?s my point. We had a coach leave us after 9 successful years for a Top 10 job. And none of us knows how to handle it. Could Mullen have handled some of the finer points better? Yes. But our problem is we got caught unprepared for the inevitable. 9 years was just long enough to make us get comfortable with what we were.

Had this happened 3 years ago, we look at this differently. But we weren?t ready to be left and we are in unfamiliar territory. So we don?t know how to proceed. How good are we really? How attractive is this job really? What?s a realistic starting point? Who fits the culture and understands us?

There?s a lot of questions to be answered right now. But in the same way Stricklin just screwed us, he also helped us. Cohen is the perfect guy to make his hire. He?s MSU. He?s the culture. And he had to replace a legend, and like it or not, pissed or not, Dan is a legend here. He?s the best coach we ever had. And now we have to find his replacement.

Make sure you donate guys. Re up on season tickets. Give a little more if you can. Make sure we do our damndest to support the next person. We have to maintain the success we have established and not get caught with our pants around our ankles wondering where we go from here. Give a little more in December. Send Cohen a letter to voice your support. Be all in for MSU because we are a better place now than we were 9 years and we have to make sure that in 9 years we can say the same thing.

Hail Damn State people

Well one other perspective on him leaving is we weren't ready to pay him what FL is.

False... we weren’t going to over pay but certainly would have matched up to 6.5 or 7 mill had we paid more than that we would have been handcuffed for the forseable future with a coach that as of now shouldn’t be valued at 7 mill. We can get the same results for 7 mill.

Dan left because he wanted to win a championship period and he fees he has a better chance to do that at Florida. Money is no longer an issue for us.. prestige, recruiting and history still see an issue. If we follow up with another good hire and he builds on what Mullen started and gives us another 9 years of winning that perception, prestige/history will be much different. That is why I think we need to go after a proven head coach that can at least hold serve for the forseable future.

For the results so far ,Dan was over paid at 6M. I don't know what Florida is paying him, but I bet their going to be real unhappy in 2-3 years.
We can do Better! Hail Damn State!

It was rumored he is getting $7 Million, but nothing to confirm it, and also that FL would buy the coaches that Mullen wanted to bring (steal ) from us.
