1. You always hear about the Alabama Hangover- well we had it this week. We had starters missing, and others sitting at first for unknown reasons, and an offensive coaching gameplan that was crap. 11am game- in which we havent played well yet this year. On the road in terrible-ass Arkansas. Lucky to get a win.

2. Dan Walsh gonna Dan Walsh. Terrible playcalling all day. Against one of the SEC worst rush defenses- we come out and throw 3 straight passes. With the game on the line and down in the 4th Q? We waste a possession by throwing 3 straight passes to Jamal Couch- a guy with 6 catches this season. We finally saw the error of our ways on our final 2 drives. We ran it down their throats and then hit Todd on playaction. 5 runs and 1 pass. Then on the final possession- 7 runs and 2 passes. Our 2 4thQ TD drives- 12 runs and 3 passes. We got 1/3 of our total passing yards for the entire day on those 3 passes because we #RTGDF. Got to stop being cute and do what it takes to win games like this. In the 4th Q we did. Finally. 100 yards of our 348 came on those 2 possessions.

3. Aeris not starting was stupid. Cost us a TD and almost the game. He obviously wasnt hurt- because after Gibson gave them a TD- he played the rest of the game. It couldn't have been discipline really- because he only sat for 2 series and was inserted into the line-up before the game got out of hand. You dont discipline somebody for half a quarter. Not sure what was going on there but it doesnt need to happen anymore. Yes Gibson has played pretty well and Reese didnt seal the guy off- but go with your guy to start the game. Only thing that makes any sense is if he missed curfew on Friday night.

4. Nick was Nick in the passing game as usual- 12/23- 150 yards. Threw a few really good passes and some wtf passes. The dart to Deddrick to seal the win was perfect. The pass dropped by Big Boy on the fade was a well-thrown ball. But he was lucky he didnt throw a pick-6 and a few others just leave you shaking your head. Gonna have to make some throws to win Thursday.

5. OL played like they were sleepy. 4 yards per carry vs UPig. A team that gives up an average of 5.15 per game against everybody else. Reese wasnt getting the backside sealed when we zoned left- guy gave him all kinds of trouble. They really clogged the inside in the run game. 2 sacks and 6 TFL's made this just an ugly day.

6. DL played really well- as they should have vs an injured OL group. Pressured Allen all day with Sweat getting 3 sacks and Simmons another. 9 TFL's. Limited UPig to less than 100 yards total in the run game. Great job here.

7. Good day from the LB's. UPig almost broke a few runs but these guys were there to make sure they didnt. Good 4th Q play from Gay when the game was on the line. Spencer was all over the place.

8. Love me some Jonathan Abram. A couple of big hits and then a forced fumble that turned the game. Impact player. He knocked one of their guys out of the game with a crushing sideline hit. For a guy nursing a shoulder- you never knew it. Mac was banged up also but gutted it out. Held UPig to 221 yards total- really good day on D. Got to recover fumbles in the Secondary though- that was a big play.

9. Kylin Hill is going to be a pro. Balls out on special teams and runs hard. 3/15- needs to run it more and give Aeris a break here and there. Caught 2 passes- including that screen pass that he almost turned into a 1st down on 3rd and 20. Should see more of this guy in the bowl game with the extra practices. He should solidify being #2 by then and his knowledge of the playbook should be where it needs to be to play 15-17 plays of offense in some warm Florida location.

10. It's Egg Bowl week. It's Coach Luke's last game so you know they will play hard for him. They have a dangerous offense. But it's Fredo coming to see us at the lakehouse- and we can't let Fredo win. Fredo wants to show us he's smart. It's time to settle all Family business.

At halftime the pigs had -1 yds rushing. Seemed like we got out halftimed by Bert but we sure gutted it out in the end. I had grown accustomed to losing games like that.

I couldn?t figure out why Williams wasnt running the ball more. You think we were saving him for the EB?

It was interesting that the announcers mentioned the OL did not practice in pads this week. Those who know football more than me to speculate - would that account for the slow start and overall sluggishness?

I thought the defense was deceptively dominant. The only times they scored were off of fumbles either directly or indirectly. Arkansas is pretty lucky we didn't shut them out.

Opposing teams put 8 in the box, Dan and 99% other coaches are going to throw to loosen it up. Fitz connects with a few of those early passes and we run for 350 yards and dominate the game because they have to respect the pass.

Good points.

There has to be an explanation for #3. Something like missing curfew would make sense. Coaches have praised Aeris all season and he's been the bell cow and leader since day one. Him not getting the start has to have some sort of explanation. If it was just that they wanted to get Gibson some early touches they would have done it after Aeris getting the start. This goes against everything we know about Mullen, unless it was some sort of minor discipline issue.

We had no idea how they were going to line up- yet started the game with 3 straight passes. Everybody we play loads up and we run the ball anyway. Those last 2 TD drives were against a loaded box also. Try another excuse

It's no excuse, it's a fact... and did you really just contradict yourself in the first two sentences? It's called, as I'm sure you know, scripting - "they come out like this, we do that". Plus we ran the ball 22 times in the 1st half and 26 times in the 2nd, it's not like we had an epiphany with 7 minutes left in the game.

One LB that I thought played well was Erroll Thompson.

They weren't difficult passes execution > play calling

You are way to critical IMO with Dan and his play calling, he is what he is and overall is a pretty good play caller.
JWS said it best and you should know as you are a Coach, "players when games not coaches".

In saying this, we found a way to win, mistakes were made by our offense and special teams, it was more on lack of concentration and execution than play calling.

To you younger pups, in years past this would of been a LOSS, times are changing.

I really think that was the plan. Run Nick and Kylin and keep Aeris fresh for the Egg Bowl. 3 physical game in 12 days is tough. I think everything would have worked out perfectly had we not had the special teams gaffe on the first punt.

True. See 1997 for reference.

Yep, in the past -1990s - those two free touchdowns would have caused the team to retract in their shell the rest of the game.

When it's game 11, it's not executuon, it's tendencies.

Agreed. I thought the same thing. Try to limit hits on aeris to have him ready for the Egg.

Had we started him and then got him out- we could have done that. Huge mistake and you just dont do that unless he is hurt. Let your workhorse run early then rotate the others more once you have settled into the game.

I agree with you 100% on that. Put them away early and then rest em. I was pissed aeris didn?t start and it almost cost us the game.

Aeris is our MVP just like JRob in 2014. Dans O is best featuring a big workhorse RB. Kylin is next

No mention of the fumble on the punt after we held them to 3 & out? At some point, you have to acknowledge momentum! When they got a 2nd chance and punched it in, that changes things.

When we fumble and give them a TD right after that, that's hard to overcome (regardless of how many fans are in there).

We should have rolled them, but glad to see they overcame adversity that happens during games sometimes.

He did not start for disciplinary reasons.

I honestly think Mullen was thinking he could move it with Gibson and Hill only and rest Williams probably the entire game. I would have gone with Hill over Gibson to start though. Obviously it didn?t work out for him so in came Williams.
