I am assuming the contracts are written that way.

He actually has a very small buyout. Which flies is the face of all the trolls who say he most certainly has wanted out of Starkville ever since he got here.

He doesn't care about the buy out:

1 - Megan likes Starkville.
2 - She hates FL and is not happy with the thoughts of moving to TN - colder, with a pushy Alumni base that her husband will be FORCED to deal with. She knows that Dan likes things his way and dealing with a pushy alumni base will not make for good homelife.
3 - Megan likes playing golf at Old Waverly and their kids like it too.
4 - Dan knows these things. He cares enough that he caddies for his boy when he plays golf.
5 - Dan had started and committed to a project at MSU that he intends to finish.
6 - He has been given full latitude in how he runs his program. The important thing here is HIM running HIS program.
7 - Is this about money? MSU will match whatever FL or TN offer. I say that, because both schools are under money limits. They are not Alabama, with unlimited budget to hire. Both of them also figure that the status of coaching at their schools must be worth some amount of money (Flagship schools in their minds).

We will give Dan a satisfactory raise this year. He will bank the money, because he has no use for a jet, which is about the only thing he doesn't have at this point in his life.

I agree with all of the above.
But can’t he use the MSU Administration’s jet anytime he wants?

Use Jet? Yep.

He has full access to it, as long as it is on company business. If he wants to run the Boston Marathon, He would have to fly up there on his nickel, but he has more then enough nickels to do that. The other thing is at TN or FL, he would be too busy trying to keep his job to do stuff like train and run any marathon in Boston.

Lol should?ve explained it better. University business only for the jet, which is still cool. Dans got a pretty dang good gig. Fairly low pressure(for an sec coach that is),high paying job with a lot of perks.

His buyout is ridiculous. Less than 1 mil. Rumor is it's more like 500k.

Yep.

30 hours a year of private flying time for personal use. Gets a clean slate every year.

Lets pin this and anytime anyone wants to talk about Mullen send them to it. I feel like I have read these points 200 times in the last month. The same people who go over to Spirit and read lies and come back here to get reassured are the same ones that listen to media BS about Mullen and come back here to try and get reassured that Mullen aint going anywhere. Listen to what he has said in his press conferences when asked about others jobs and leave it at that. Trust him until he gives you a reason not to.

We have 2 of our top 7 posts start out with "What if Mullen does leave". I bet there's no post on any Bama, Auburn, or Georgia message board that wants to discuss "what if our coach leaves".

Until our fans can have the same attitude, we will be easy prey for the media. Can we please not post this crap...even if you put "hypothetical" or "I don't believe he will" in your subject line.

Mullen ain't going anywhere besides the Citrus Bowl this new years.

You left out that he is not their real first choice. Florida wants Kelly and Tenn wants Gruden. This brings up two points. 1) Part of the fan base will he is not good enough from the beginning, which can foment discontent at any small thing. 2) He does not like being second choice.

The university needs access to better jets. Those old Hawkers are, well, old.

I think Dak is sponsoring some kind of airline or airplane. Maybe he can get the university a great deal**

Yep, he's with Nicholas Air, which is a management company. They offer jet cards and fractional ownership. He probably receives a certain amount of hours per year in return for his endorsement, which is a pretty sweet deal.

My assumption is that we fly the university aircraft a decent amount of hours (200+) per year, which means charter or fractional becomes too expensive. Nearly new pre-owned aircraft is the smart purchase right now.

We don't know what his buyout is, it isn't publicly available information.

But I can almost promise you it's substantial. Neither the coach nor school benefits from a small buyout. If there was no buyout, we certainly wouldn't have renegotiated his contract last year. Increasing the buyout is literally the only reason to do that as often as we do.
