MSU getting some serious love tonight during the Playoff unveiling by Herbstreet and Booger. They are tossing our name around and Fitz's name around like we are the new LSU. Respect is finally getting shown. Our offensive line dominating Alabama hasn't gone unnoticed. Congrats Hevesy and Mullen on that. That is an amazing accomplishment considering all the shit Hevesy has had to eat the last five years.

We should be sending all the positive tweets about our Oline play to every 2018-2020 offensive line recruit we have on the board. The way the O-line played has gotten a ton of love from analyst the past week and we need to try and sell that.

As I've said if he changed some things especially with his recruiting the criticism would stop.

Let?s hope our guys learned from the publicity after we steamrolled LSU. Was our worst practice week all year. Im guessing we have based upon our performance against Bama. We have to keep getting bette through our bowl game.

His recruiting hasn't changed. He is who he is. Some love him. Some don't. But results do wonders.

We signed ONE high school o-lineman last year. ONE. UNO.

On paper it certainly has changed. Dolla Bill alone is his highest rated recruit ever and is an UA All-American. Carvin is a heavy lean to MSU and has multiple SEC offers. McDowell is pretty typical of who we have been getting which is fine given what else we are likely to get. Bleich is a lean as well and has several power five offers.

So, what has changed? Sallach getting fired as a wake up call? Hiring Looney to replace Sallach who has offensive line coaching experience and is known for his recruiting as a warning and or to help with recruiting? Dan allegedly having a come to Jesus meeting with him prior to the season?

It doesn't matter what the actual case is- something HAS changed and changed for the better.

When was the last time someone criticized Hevesy? After Charleston Southern when we were snapping balls at Fitz's ankles?

As I said- if his unit performs and he recruits better the criticism will stop. And it has.

Here is the biggest misconception on the board. Hev doesn?t just recruit OL. Each coach has an area they focus on. Looney could recruit TE OL or Wr or any position. OL coach and OL recruiting are not mutually exclusive.

Hev is never going to recruit well. Hopefully we have gotten him some help there. What he does do is coach like a MF'er. This is why Mullen keeps him around. Despite being a grizzly bear's asshole, he knows what he's doing on the field.

Safety has been the biggest under -performer this year based on talent....WR is our least talented group....Gonzo needs to get everyone signed during early signing period... as far as Oline, we basically have all 5 starters coming back, but not a lot of depth... Moon , Storey, Suggs, Phillips, Champion and Wilkerson need to be ready.

To be fair, many of us, myself included, have said Hev is damn good at coaching them up. His problem is recruiting. We wish he had better talent to work with from the start. This group was more highly rated than the 2014 group that featured 2 former walkons and it shows. Imagine what Hev could do with a line of legit 3 & 4 star guys instead of 1-3 star guys.

Your last sentence nails what so many Hevesy defenders miss.

Oh like this question hasn't been asked 7 billion times before. Meanwhile Booger and Herbstreet literally said on ESPN last night "Mississippi State's offensive line DOMINATED Alabama the entire game". Give Hevesy some love for that for once.

We actually have 3 and 4 stars on the Oline now instead of 1-3 stars. The line we are putting out there is probably our highest rated by recruiting sites. Amazing what getting higher recruits does when you are competing against Bama. You will occasionally get a Day who was a 2 star that played like a 4 star but you won't do it consistently. We might have some guys on this line get drafted which says a lot about our talent level. This year proves that if we get the recruits to compete then Hev will get them coached up.

Man I couldn't believe what I was hearing when Herbstreit and Booger praised our team and how we basically whipped bamas front 7. That was awesome! Hev and the boys on the OL have kicked peoples butts this year!

Hev is a great coach. If we can get him the talent then he will get them to compete with the Bamas of the football world and even sometimes Dominate them. Hopefully the recruiting keeps trending up. He has also proved that if you have the talent then he can get you ready in a hurry like Reese and Eiland. Put on your shades boys because the future is BRIGHT.

Yep. And that's why the criticism of Hev has mostly stopped this year. Give him players with a higher ceiling to work with and look out. If we can keep giving him guys like Reese, Eiland, Rankin, Jenkins, etc. he'll be just fine. The problem with him was never the development side. He maximized what he was given as well as any coach on the staff. We just need to keep up the OL crootin and put a few of these boys in the NFL. That will go a long way towards helping us continue signing better OL.

Since Mullen and Hevesay have obviously listened to the complaints of ED posters and made changes**, could we complain about the lack of a Natl Championship?!? I'm getting a little long in the tooth and would like to see one at State!

I made this comment on one of our message boards months ago and caught flack for it. But, I met a former State d-lineman and was talking to him about the team. The one coach he called out as being a great coach was hevesy.

It's not a misconception. Most everyone understands that the coaches primarily recruit a geographic region.....but when it comes down to it, a recruit's position coach is going to be a major factor in their final decision and a lot of people feel like OL recruits don't want to play for Hevesy. I think that has definitely been part of the problem, but I think a bigger part of the problem is that MS just doesn't seem to produce very many high quality OL.

That goes back to high school coaching. Obvious Miss has the talent to produce high quality lineman but just don't. Alot of guys don't even become O Lineman until high school and some guys who are lineman in middle school play another position. I say that because physical growth is different between guys. I am thinking Mullen and Hev recruit based on what they think they can developed out of a guy. Sometimes it pans out and sometimes it doesn't. I have talked to Brad Peterson about this and he has said what you get out of a guy in the 9th grade may be totally different then what you get out of him in the 12th grade. Some get better and some don't improve at all. You can be a super running back in the 7th grade but be average in the 9th grade.
