1st- has to be the State-Bama game of 1980. Didnt totally understand at 11 the significance of why it was such a big deal other than the fact that Bama was #1- but the energy in Memorial Stadium that day was incredible. I've never seen so many fans hug each after we stopped them on the goalline

2nd- State-Fla 1991- was just an incredible night until Sleepy got hurt. We handed them their ass from the opening whistle and murdered Shane Matthews Heisman hopes.

2000 vs Florida was my first MSU game to attend. Dicenzo and Dontae ran wild that day. Also, the look on Spurrier's face was great.
2007 Egg Bowl was great too. Place was wild when Pegues returned that punt.

I have to go with 2000 Florida as well. I was sitting three rows up from the visitors bench and watching Spurriers hissy fits were great. Also the 3rd and 56 and complete domination made it an incredible game to attend.

1998 Arkansas game for me too. Nothing else like it for what was riding on the line and the way we pulled it out of the fire. 1999 Egg Bowl probably second.

Wasn't a nail biter, but I had a blast at the Peach Bowl the year we beat Clemson when Smoot was suspended. That defense was sick.

Not even close....1980 Bama game.

2nd ---- Ole Miss in 1964 Was a student at MSU then and we beat them in Oxford for the first time in 20 years....Justin Canale field goal. Was on TV.....Lindsey Nelson said it was one of the best games he ever called.

Gator Bowl no doubt about it. Front row seats right behind State's bench, as game was going on, all our friends started texting and calling saying our group was all over the television, must admit first time that had happened. Got great pictures of the players, complete and utter dismantling of a national name program on New Years day, after the game Saulsberry came over and was giving us all high fives. Fantastic experience.

1992 Florida. Sure the stadium was smaller then but it was rocking the entire game. It was the only game that I attended as a student where you couldn't find a seat.

And the "Shaaaaaane Shaaaaaaane" and "bye bye Heisman" chants throughout the 2nd half were magnificent.

6-3 Bama game. great game

But here is a cool one from long ago. We beat the Mustard Buzzards like 55-6 and knocked Little Wille Hiedleburg out of the game (JohN David Calhoun I think knocked Him the **** out). This came a week after They beat Archie and the Rebs and Little Willie killed them.

The upcoming "Throw the Cat Out" game against the Corndogs will be my 80th MSU game to attend of 104 total D1 games. I'm interpreting this as best overall product on the field as entertainment goes.

The 2009 thriller 30-26 loss to LSU ranks up there but the actual best knock down drag out fight I have personally attended was 1992 game on the road at Memphis State. Dawgs won 20-16 in the 4th quarter in the kind of defensive battle I love.

As far qas other satisfying from a Bulldog perspective:

- 7 Egg Bowl wins I've seen... 1991, 1999, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 with 1999 claiming top honors. My best friend is a Bear and we've attended every Egg Bowl since 2002 together with the "home" team providing tickets and meals! In 2011 I got to enjoy having him miserable in toadstrangler while losing. It was a pleasure after I suffered the same in 2003!
- Beating LSU at Mississippi Memorial Stadium 34-22 in 1990 in a game not nearly as close as the score would mislead. It was my first trip from Natchez (home) to Jackson driving without my parents. A friend and I went squirrel hunting that morning and stayed with my grandma in Canton. FSU had beaten LSU 42-3 earlier that season and went State went up 31-3, the band started playing and everybody was doing "The Chop!" It was awesome

But top honors will go to beating LSU next week if that happens! Dawgs are only 42-37 in the games I've attended. Need to make it 43-37

I was a student in attendance at '80 Bama game, and yes, I got the sticker. Also had those poster-cards they gave out that said "Bulldog Blitz". Can't remember if we had them by that game or not, but some really fun times at MSU.

I remember one year my buddies & I hung an effigy of Colonel Reb from a rope we threw over the goal-post prior to the game. It might have been the infamous "Dick Pace game" of '81. We had managed to get on-field pre-game, threw the Reb doll, complete with noose around his neck, over the crossbar and yanked it up & down to the delight of State fans in attendance at the time. Still angry about that call that cost us the W.

We were damn good in those years, but even then had the worst luck/craziest shit happen to us. Lost plenty of games we should have won. I was also there when we lost to USM 7-6 in a game we completely dominated, with them crossing midfield just once on a fumbled kick return they cashed in for the winning TD. We rolled up well over 500 yards of O, yet just couldn't punch it in, beating ourselves. USM had our number in those days. Was also there when they whipped us at homecoming 42-14. It's hard to explain the frustration of being there back then, knowing we had a great team, yet watching us blow it, or get screwed.

6-3 1980. Was student at State and a great game but disagree about it being a great atmosphere. It was not. It was hohum until second half when State fans thought we had a chance. The best atmosphere were the games at memorial stadium between State and om and usm. Half or more of state fans and half or less of opposing fans. Those games were wild crazy.

Went to one of those... my only time to see MSU-USM. 1983... lost 31-6. It is one of only 2 times I can ever remember my dad uttering 4 letter words. I don't remember a heck of a lot about it except the sucking!!! Dawgs must not let me down next year against the golden beagles!

The loudest I have ever heard the stadium was the Banks interception return of Florida. That was the most electric I have ever seen the stadium.

The best MSU game I ever attended was the 2004 basketball regular season finale at Alabama. They had to turn the lights out on the 3000 State fans that were there. Plus, Alabama-MSU had a nice little basketball rivalry going at the time.

You make a good point, I was at the infamous 7-6 game we lost to USM in Jackson in 1981 and the atmosphere for that game was tremendous as both teams were ranked. Sad part is that we dominated most of the game but still lost and the only reason USM scored at all was we muffed a punt that they recovered at our own 12 yard line and they went in for the TD. Aside from that they never crossed the 50 all day and Reggie Collier was running for his life.

The most emotional one for me was the 2007 Egg bowl.. I was fixing to walk out when Pegues ran the punt back for the touchdown....

My son's good friend, Dezmond Sherrod (Derek's brother) played on that team...

ETA: come to think of it, I think that may have been the last game my Dad went to... :(

Snow Bowl

Those are probably the top three and all under Jackie Wayne, but there was an egg bowl in Jackson in the 80's where a huge bench clearing fight broke out and that was fun too.

Have only been a fan since 2001, when I started school.

Best Game - Basketball, 2004 vs Kentucky. What a game, and what an emotional rollercoaster. I was screaming so loud when we completed the comeback, I almost passed out. Literally. And oh, the agony that followed on that fluke tip play.

Best Moment - Football, 2007 vs Alabama. I hadn't been to a game in two yrs, and boy did I pick a good one. I've never heard DWS or seen pure joy like when Anthony Johnson returned that interception 100 yds for a TD.

Honorable Mentions: 2004 Florida, as the only real highlight that occurred while I was there as a student. And 2010 Gator Bowl, the perfect cap to a great season.

Low Point: The Maine.

Probably the 1987 Egg Bowl in Jackson. OM had won several egg bowls in a row, and were expected to win this one. I hated them worse than anyone back then. The game was competitive from beginning to end but we came out on top 30-20. That win shut them up for a year and I needed that.

The Egg Bowl atmospheres at Memorial Stadium were super intense. You had a split audience about 50/50, it was loud as hell, cigar smoke everywhere, and lots of name calling. I miss the intensity of those days but this year could be up there.

98 SEC Championship Game - SUper Bowl atmosphere
Matt Wyatt game at Auburn
20-0 Win at Auburn JJ Johnson running over them in the rain. Buster Brown fired on Monday.
1980 24-21 win over Auburn we stop Joe Cribbs fourth and goal from the one late in 4th quarter. No one ever talks about this game because of the Bama victory. (I was at that one too).
Madkin to Kendall Watkins to beat Tennessee at Scott field.
Bellard beating LSU in first night game at Scott field. 1982? Knocked them out of Sugar Bowl.

1991 Texas in Starkville. Sherrill's first big game. We won and it put MSU football on the map and set fan expectation that still exists today.

...followed closely by 1991 Florida. We weren't supposed to have a chance. We came out and punched them in the mouth.

...followed closely by 2010 Arkansas which would be #1 if we had actually won. That game was Mullen's best football against Petrino's best Arkansas team. We lose a heartbreaker in OT.

EDIT - maybe the 91 mentions were 1992. Those games were at Scott Field though.
