I can't wait for all the skeleton stories to start leaking out on him. Vols definitely covered up how much of a psycho he was for years.

Didn't Lane Kiffen do the same thing to them when he left? He was trying to get their commits to follow him to USC at the time if I remember correctly.

He and Orgeron both did when they went to USC. That's not as bitchy to me as this though. Tennessee fans were very crass towards them before they left town. Death threats, death threats painted on the Rock and burning pics of him and posting other very foul acts directed at him on youtube etc... Kiffen needed a police escort next time he was in Tennessee after the messy divorce.

I think Lane is right up there. He left and still tried to take kids. Butch was fired and upset about it.

Regardless, Would anyone blame Jones if he did call the recruits? I'm sure he went and personally meet with these kids and promised them things. Now he is no position to guarantee anything about their future. It is just a part of the firing process and the Tennessee fans are being dramatic bitches.

1) Guys take kids with them all the time. It feels less wierder and pissier when the coach is just leaving of his own accord.

2) I agree it will be interesting when the psycho stories start to come out. But I'm seriously betting it will go both ways and UT folks will be shown to be idiots/psychos as well.

Tennessee's overall problem is not coaching. It's recruiting and culture. Their recruiting situation has changed and not for the better. Times have changed and their best days are probably behind them. They're making it worse.

Bingo. UTs recruiting circle is basically nothing. Clemson will get all their local kids, if they want them.

If this had been a 4 or 5 star kid I would agree it's a poor thing for Jones to do. It certainly wouldn't do himself any favors going forward as far as keeping his name clean and trying to get other jobs.

But since this was a 3 star guy and what "appears" to be a not highly recruited kid, I ask myself is he doing this for the benefit of the kid thinking that another staff may not see the potential in him and giving him the chance he was giving him.

If a 4 star kid comes out and says the same, then I'm solidifying my stance on Butch being childish about the whole thing. But if this was the only kid he did this to, then I can't make it a slam dunk against Jones.

Agree Lumpy, he's probably giving the kid a heads up, before it's too late to find another school.
