It's too quiet imo. Seems like something would've been leaked by now if the NCAA had told UM to bend over already.

Yeah, I️ don’t think it will be this week. We would have heard something from the reliable sources if it was.

Nothing really leaked in the UNC case either until right before. At least nothing credible.

If you are going to release something to the media that you want lesser media coverage, for a few days, you do it at the end of the work week. If it is a holiday weekend that just makes it better from a public relations standpoint because there should be less media coverage. USDA and FDA have used this method when they have released food recalls.

The later the better, with the early signing period upcoming the longer they go with out being able to hire a coach the more it will hinder their recruiting. I love it. Aside from being curious about the actual sanctions I wish they'd drag it out until next year.

This is how I feel. I kind of wish the Hugh Freeze stuff had gone down in January.

If it is not this Friday like their “insiders” are claiming, I would expect it to be post egg bowl like Pat Forde, who has actual NCAA contacts, predicted.

What say ye peeps in the know?

not in the know, but I feel it will be between friday and Tuesday of next week. Just a guess. But the 24 hour lag is not true according to the NCAA website. It's WAY less than that. The ncaa is going to notify the school with just enough time for the school to make a statement to the media and (I think) they allow only VERY limited time for the school to file a rebuttal.

My guess is we hear about this over the weekend or very late Friday. Could be wrong. The 10 week mark is tuesday the 21st. That would be especially cruel. It would be all that was talked about in the media before the egg bowl. But it is the 10 week mark. 8-10 weeks is what the NCAA posts is their time frame.

I feel that the NCAA is particularly angry about the Rebel Rags lawsuit and all the deflections and delays considering the evidence they have. Any leniency the OM fanbase could expect went out the window with their crap since the announcement of Freeze's firing. The NCAA knows that Ole Miss knew about that even if Bjork acted as if this was a surprise.

At this point, the length of the probation could be the real issue. If more than 4 years, om has to keep reducing scholarships, no matter how few, for that long. That may very well be the killer here.

Bowl games may cause immediate attrition and high scholarship reductions might cause a shock to the rest of the members. But a lengthy probationary period, say 6 scholarships per year for 5 years brings them down to 55 after year 5 and then they can only recover at 25 per year which is 1.5 more years which brings the total penalty to 7.5 years and involves another signing day.

Arrogance is good for message boards. But it sucks long term.

True my bad... a long week.......But when it is released to the media, it would be better for OM if it was received by the media during a holiday weekend as there is usually less media coverage with less staff, the holiday, etc.

Anything south of death would be good news, but I suspect we'll all be underwhelmed and they'll be pissed. If so, maybe the NCAA actually got it right, but I promise you the NCAA does not want Ole Miss fans making fun of them, along with the media, after the UNC fiasco.

Honestly, if it goes down like I think it might- they could be setting up Ole Miss to get the death penalty. I'm thinking it could be a long probation of around 5-7 years and there is no way their boosters will behave that long. Plus I think there may be the possibility of the Freeze/escort thing being for recruits possibly coming to light in a year or two as well.

They are in the penalty phase now, the COI can't delay on new possible infractions. That would be handled as a seperate case, if warranted.

3-4 years
2 year bowl ban

This would result in OM becoming the Kansas Football program of the SEC for the next 7 years or so.

I think they release to TCUN and give them either 24 or 48 hrs to release. If they don't, then the NCAA releases it to the masses.

This would be far worse than anything in college football recruiting history including SMU so I could see the death penalty on the table if it was 100% proven. I don't see how you prove it unless some kids, hookers, or staff that helped set it up actually go on record tying it to the coaching staff and/or Network.

Actually I believe the NCAA just gives the school a short time notification of when they will be releasing the report to the public. That part of an infractions case has no influence by the school about release. It is required to be made public by the NCAA

Simply because Dan is super powerful and orchestrated all of this with the SEC and NCAA offices to bring down the challenger to Bama's throne. Everyone knows Hugh was about to start a dynasty that rivaled what Bear and Saban has done put together. Hugh had shown how great their campus was and knew how to relate to 17 year old boys in a way that most coaches don't. He truly was the greatest recruiter in NCAA history and he threatened the blue bloods so they had to falsify evidence to bring him down by having 18 or so student athletes to lie under oath against UM, all started by Dan Mullen.

I have always wondered why they focused on #39. Why not the other 40? Take away LL and you still have a lot of shit left to worry about.

In the long run that may wind up being more damaging than anything the NCAA does to them, no matter how bad it is. I still can't believe they were stupid enough to do it and then double down with the lawsuit stuff.

Because it was the “only” pay-for-play (cash anyway) and they consider everything else minor... hunting trips, sleeping on coach’s couches, etc...
