I was looking at our future football schedules http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/sec/mississippi-state-bulldogs.php - which mainly shows our OOC match ups we have contracted and who is in our home/away SEC rotation.

I noticed something very interesting. Between SEC and OOC games, we will have played a game in Louisiana every year between 2016 and 2020. We also have an OOC Louisiana team on our schedule every year but 1 ('22) from 2017 - 2023 - and in that year we play @ LSU. I know some will bitch about "away games at piddly schools", but I think this is brilliant. This gives us a very visible recruiting tool in a talent rich state. The games are close enough - and we have enough alums in LA - that we bring a strong road crowd. Louisiana kids will see us a lot more than any other out of state school. When you combine that with the stars we have produced from LA, we are going to be very appealing to Louisiana players. I don't think this was an accident.

not sure if it was intentionally targeting or what but it seems like we were in the state of Alabama for a while too ..... and pulled a few pretty good players from there

Yep. LSU can't take all of them.

It's about time to play Louisiana Monroe again. We haven't done so since 1997.

Because they freaking beat our ass at home.

ETA: That was 1995. La Tech waxed us in 1996. Finally got them (NE La) in 1997.

LA-MS-AL are key for us, however we can do it. Not FL-TX-GA where every other team in America is recruiting.

I can make an exception for east AR, west TN and select areas of GA from time to time.

We beat Louisiana Monroe in Starkville 59-0 in 1996 too. I'd like to play them in the Superdome like we are doing with Lafayette for the road portion of that deal.
