That whole experience was just in the Twilight Zone. It was a really bizarre game. A few observations: it was quite obvious that everybody.....the coaches, the players, the fans....violated the cardinal rule of sports, we forgot to focus on and respect the opponent in front of us. It was the classic trap game and we were lucky to escape it. That we DID escape it is a positive thing though, especially for us. Plays were made when they had to be. Y?all know I rarely get on Mullen but he made two decisions that kept this game closer than it should have been even with our crappy performance. Going on 4th down early on and not getting it gave UMass a shot of adrenaline they shouldn?t have had. That goes directly back to not respecting the opponent. As bad as that one was, the damn trick play in the second half was even worse. Given the situation that is one of the stupidest calls I have ever seen in any level. We had been basically strolling down the field 8 yards at a time running the ball the whole second half till that point. UMass was on the ropes big time and then we call THAT? That would have been a dumb one playing on Xbox. Dan is going to do one of those at least once a year. Hopefully that is the last one for 2017. Bottom line.....7-2 and on to the next one.
