Slightly OT but looked at some stats.... In 2013 when State played Ok State in Houston to kick the season off I caught a Stros game the night before our football game. I bought a gen admin ticket for like 10$ off the street walked in and sat 10 rows behind home plate in a pretty empty stadium.. Probably more state fans there than true Astros fans.

In 2013 the Astros were working on a solid

51-111 regular season record and finished 45 games back in their division.

Turn to 2017

The Astros finished with a regular season record of 101-61 ... won their division by 21 games and won a World Series.

To me that is absolutely amazing the turn around they were able to make in that time frame.

In that time frame State really started to turn a corner as well.

2012 8-5
2013 7-6
2014 10-3
2015 9-4
2016 6-7
2017 6-2 with a shot at 9-3 (win a bowl) 10-3

Total to date: 46-27( if we go on to have the season we are capable of)
end of 2017 50-30 ( assuming we take care of business and win our bowl/alot of assuming I know)

That would equate to an 8+ win season 4 out of the last 6 years. With two a 9 and two 10 win seasons mixed in
Anyone thinking we aren't trending up in the right direction has lost their mind. And we need to collectively do what ever we can to keep this coaching staff intact.

To put in perspective
Alabama Arkansas Auburn LSU TSUN Aggies
2012 13-1 4-8 3-9 10-3 7-6 11-2
2013 11-2 3-9 12-2 10-3 8-5 9-4
2014 12-2 8-5 8-5 8-5 9-4 8-5
2015 14-1 8-5 7-6 9-4 10-3 8-5
2016 14-1 7-6 8-5 9-4 5-7 8-5
2017 8-0(likely 12-0 reg season) 3-5( looking at 4-8) 6-2(8-4 likely) 6-2(9-3 expected)3-5(4-8) 5-3( likely 7-5)

Total: 72-7 Likely 76-7(not including 2017 SECCG/playoffs) 33-38 (34-41) 44-29(46-31) 52-22(55-23) 39-30(40-33) 49-24 ( 51-26)

We are clearly climbing the latter in the SECW especially if you look at our trajectory over the next 2-3 years. LSU could be down. OM will suck, Aggies will Aggy and Arky sucks, and Auburn is a roller coaster. Only consistent winner is Bama.

Sorry once posted it jumbles the spacing of overall records my apologies not sure how to get it to stay in same format. My apologies in advance.

Great post! Keep perspective. Even when we have down years we have bounced back. If we consistently win eventually we get better recruits, facilities, asst coaches and we break through. Slow and steady is the way. Enjoy the ride.

I got crawford box tickets to the Astros Mariners game the day after we played in Houston for like $10. They were horrible and only had Altuve then. I can't believe the turn around they had.

The turnaround started in 2008. They’ve been stockpiling picks since then and have used them to manipulate their roster into a great one.

Also most of their 1st and 2nd round picks were homeruns. They haven't really had any type of bust in the early picks in quite a while. It was nice to see McCann get a ring along with Oso Blanco. I liked watching them play for the Braves and hopefully the Braves are working their way to rebuilding.

They’ve done a great job but Appel and Aiken were both big time busts.

The hell they haven't had busts... 2 1st rounders not even playing anymore.. Mark Appeal is one of them... the turn around didn't start in 2008.. Started the year in 2011 with first 100 loss season. same in 2012 and in 2013 they moved to AL. 2014 was 1st year they didn't lose 100 games.. 2015 won wild card playoff and had the Royals almost beat till last game. 2016 chocked again.. then this year they win it all... 101 games in regular season. Also became 1st team to with a National Division Championship in 2005 and AL Division Championship this year. best move was getting St.Louis asst GM and he brought over the analystic side of the game. Cardinals guy hacked into Astro computers and he was fired and Astros got another 1st round pick. The rest is HIStORY!
